  1. Being number one in ANY region is an accomplishment. It simply means you are capable of being one of only 16 teams still playing basketball in Lexington. That's an accomplishment.

Statements like yours make you sound...well.....

I think Mason wins by 12-16 points.

Only a few short years ago the 10th region fared only marginally better than the 16th on the state stage.

Mason will win, and probably handily, but to say being number one in the

16th Region is not an accomplishment ...means that MC wasted thier time scheduling this game. You Think?

MC did not waste time in wanted to play Elliot. This WILL be a good game. :ylsuper:

  2. I agree.

When the pressure is on against a good team does Elliot have what it takes ?

I guess what I am trying to say they should have tested themselves a little more through out the season.

Its a shame they haven't, because they are a really good team. And it would have only made them stronger.

But I could be wrong and we will all soon find out............:argue:

  3. These 2 schools get enough national attention as it is. If I wanted to know something about them I could just go to USA today. They love these two teams.

Most of it is deserved. Except for the polls that us the size of their school as an apparent indicator of how good they may or may not be. ( max preps )

Although, I would really like to see them up against some of our top 5.

  4. I agree on both counts, a team with the kind of following and tradition that Belfry has should definitely play some marquee teams. Unfortunately most of the big powers in KY aren't situated near them.

I love watching the Pirates play and I would like to see them play the Rocks sometime, but unfortunately I doubt that it will ever happen. I think it would definitely be a good experience for both parties though, I haven't seen many teams that play as physical a style as Belfry does. I think that playing against the kind of offense Trinity brings to the field would help Belfry in the long run as well.

    I AM NOT A BELFRY FAN !

But, this would be a type of team/game Trinity might actually loose.....

All it would take is for 1 or 2 things to go in Belfry's favor early in the game.

By no means would the game get out of hand, but T might not be able to correct the situation in their favor.

All that being said, I would still bet on T as the favor at the start of the game.

  5. I would say that Mason Co will win the tourney. This will not be a true picture of all the talent in the region, as GRC has moved up two more Freshman to JV, due to injuries. So 7 of our Freshman have moved up, well actually Robby Stenzel was already there. Overall the Freshman class in the region looks to be very talented.

The top of the 10th will be loaded for the next few years...

    Good times ahead!

  6. I guess you believe that the winners of the region would only be happy if the game was played at Mason County? Please!!

The kids might be tired of Mason getting to play on their home court every year.

Thats not what I said at all................

What I am trying to get at is, "as former athlete" the feelings you get when you go to a historical venue is remarkable. Thats something you can't replace.

  7. Each school gets a set allotment, and lottery them off if there is going to be this much demand.

Otherwise, take lemons and make lemonade. If there are that many Mason fans concerned about being left out, have local cable access set up a video feed of the game to the Fieldhouse and charge folks a couple of bucks to come watch.

it's the history thats being lost.

Would you rather play the state tourney at Rupp or NKU ?

Here is a new idea........Let the kid's decide. Take a poll of all teams in the 10th. I would bet that they pick to have it at Mason Co.

Keep in mind it is their memories of their road to state.

  8. Your picture says a lot. Elliott is a great team, deal with it. There is no disrespect to the younger players. They play a ton in the JV games. I suppose the varsity players only deserve 16 minutes a game. They shouldn't get to play any more. These types of comments have been too much, Elliott's starters have worked hard for years and deserve to play. Quit bashing Elliott because they are doing well. And quit bashing the coaching staff for playing players that deserve to play. I suppose it was all good until Elliott started winning. If you know much about basketball, then you will enjoy watching Elliott play. They play hard and are a joy to watch.

The fact that you commented on my avatar ( as if it were actually me )says a lot about you.

Elliot is a very good team and I have not once bashed them. I do how ever question the coaching staff and its motives...........

Also, a JV game doesn't compare to being on the floor in prime time.

  9. I believe you can scratch up to five officials but it must be done before the season starts. I believe it is too late to effect this year or the Regional Tournament. Mason has had Hudson four times and three of the four were Lex Catholic twice and Scott Co. The only big game that Mason has played without Hudson was Bryan Station first game of the season. Surely there are other games on the night Mason plays that Hudson could work!!!!!!!

Things that make ya go hmmmmmmmmmmm:mad:

  10. The key to the Elliott County game is intensity. They know no other way to play and will not be successful any other way. They must maintain that intensity and substitution often kills the chemistry of intensity.

They must remain intense to win by 40 + pts.......?

Why not take it down to a 20 pt win and let the bench get some QUALITY minutes ? If things get a little tight, put the big boys back in to finish the job.

The bottom line is,they deserve it.

I am sure they get beat down in practice, as do most non-starters and JV.

Its a huge disrespect to them. Not to mention a dis-service to the program itself.

  11. IMO Mason got lucky this game.. but they made the plays down the stretch to come away with the win....I used to think Mason was heads above everyone else in the state this year but now I believe Lex Cath is right there with them if not better. Congrats Mason on the win:thumb:

LC got a few calls to go their way late in the game after MC picked up the pace.

I think LC got lucky to pull back ahead by a point.

  12. The AP poll is a lot like the AP college football poll ... the writers seem to vote based on records with little regard for strength of schedule.

Politics in some areas and record watching for other voters.

I am know not all voters are guilty of this, but it sure looks like some are.

  13. I'd go with BGP, then Cantrall and MaxPreps, followed by Litkenhous and AP.

LTs ranking are a joke if you look at the top 5. Thats about as far as I got.

I am a Royals fan. So, I closed that page real quick !

Its a shame the AP is so messed up. If any of the polls were accurate, you would think it would be the AP.

  14. Well so far now I have seen the 3 or 4 different rankings listed on this site and none of them are legit according to the posters on here!! Can someone tell me where we can find the "one" that is supposed to be correct. According to people on here BGP's was no good Litk.haus was no good and now Cantrell's is no good??????????????????????????????????

    No right answers.......Thats fursure.

But, we can rank the polls themselves !:p

    1. BGP

    2. Cantell

    3. AP

    4.Max Preps

    5.Litk.haus

  15. Can they? Sure. Will they? Who knows, too much season left to play. I know lots of people have different ways of explaining the loss to Lex Cath, but the game did prove one thing and that is the fact that Mason Co. is beatable. I think we all can look back on Lofton's senior year as proof that anything is possible. Both Lex Cath and Mason went on to not win the state title that year despite being the best two teams in the state all year.

Warren Central showed how good they were in the finals against Mason Co.

    I was very impressed........and

I think they were over looked by much of the state.
