  1. Friday was in service day for Jefferson County Teachers (started years ago so they could go to St. James Art Fair) and no public school games could be played in Jefferson County. Fern Creek played at Bullitt County, Atherton went to Breckinridge County, and Desales-CAL are both private schools. UL game had nothing to do with it.
  2. Male wins 35-21. Southern D has been getting better but still not enough manpower to win this one. Two weeks from tonight Male vs Fern Creek will be for District Championship as both should still be undefeated in District play. Hey BigC68, is your grandson the big lineman, Dages? I think. Excuse me if I spelled it wrong.
  3. I forgot about Dages, he is real solid. I did not know he was out hurt, wish him well. Jefferson County is loaded with really big strong linemen this year, as many as I can remember in the last 10 years. Lots of kids 270-320 lbs., and quick.
  4. I have not seen the Howard kid play so I have no opinion. I have seen the Gahm kid and he will be a good one. Ulinski at Manual is topknotch as is Matt Smith, but Smith will probably be D-Line at KY. Of course Benzick and Robey as listed above. I have seen where the big kid Thompson at Crittendon County got a scholly to Indiana, but I have not seen him play or tape. Biler at Spencer County is another one getting some press.
  5. Benzick is a senior and is being recruited pretty heavily right now. He is on the cover of the Tremendous 26 magazine, standing next to Matt Smith and in front of Sam Robey & Dave Ulinski. Man, what a bunch of beef!!! He is now working with a personal trainer, ex pro player and pro trainer, 3 days a week after practice for 1.5 hours. He is really looking good. I will be at Fern Creek game this Friday to see how he does.
  6. Ryan Benzick at Fern Creek, 6'6", 320 LB. They had 455 yards rushing last game behind him. Made Tremendous 26, etc, no sacks allowed this year. Big and very quick.
  7. As a Fern Creek fan, we look forward to seeing Ryle and fans in two weeks. Should be a good ballgame. Fern Creek is 5-0, will probably be 6-0, but like Ryle, the caliber of teams has ranged from not so good to pretty good, but no Top 15 teams yet. Will be a good test for both clubs. Have a safe drive down folks.
  8. I would go with Higgins @ Fern Creek, bigtime turnaround, or Haskins at Lone Oak. Lots of guys could go on the short list this year though.
  9. Not this year but certainly for the next two, the Hynes kid at Fern Creek will be among the leaderboard. Last year as a freshman starter, he threw for tremendous stats and this year stands at 5-0. While Fern Creek is playing more power football this year, averaging over 330 yards per game on the ground, the kid still wings it and airs it out. He is 6'4", good size, and is playing really sound football right now.
