Regardless of who they hire the ENTIRE county has to be involved. I wasn't totally for this but now that it is happening and WILL happen we should get behind our coach and ESPECIALLY these kids. I know that Mr. Saylor will hire the best possible person to lead these kids. I hope that they are able to build a field, a nice field like Belfry or Letcher Central, in as short as time as possible. I know that Bell County has one middle school team. I kind of hope that they leave the teams the way that they are and allow the communities to have a little part of their tradition. Not sure how that will play out with a new coach coming in.

Playing Cawood's schedule...3A...Dudley's son could come with him as well as those kids that live on the border of Harlan/Bell County...plus $$$ Never say never. lol

Previous coaches at what consolidated school? OR were they coaches at schools in the county before the consolidation? Eric Perry. Jon Reynolds or Ovie Canady. Those were the coaches at the county schools.

Anyone from Bell heard that Dudley might be one of the choices?

Awww...I have to edit mine also...lol Seriously, the Skins sound like they are starting to get things going. With the long Christmas break I hope that this helps them build some momentum...Big games coming up. Cawood and then the Wymt Tourney.

I wonder why it is taking so long to pick a coach?? Not having facilities (football field, etc.) may be a problem. You'd think that the board would want to move quickly to hire someone so that the off season programs could get started.

Does anyone know why the FM station in Harlan won't do hardly any games in which Harlan is involved?

They should bid the rights out to whichever station wants it. Let them find sponsors. The KHSAA will make money PLUS provide a service to those that can't be there. It's a win, win situation for them. The people that support their teams will be there regardless of whether or not it is on television. It's sad to say that I too, have sat and watched the TSSAA put on a great show. Alcoa and Randall Cobb looked impressive. I'll watch Maryville also. The KHSAA needs to get into this and help our kids to be seen. I'd love to watch Highlands, Beechwood, Fort Campbell, Lou. Central and others that I would never get to see. **sighs** Frustration.

I don't know. I didn't go because my son had a game. I was listening on the local radio station and they never said.

Final in overtime. Cumberland played without Garfield Wilson and Brock Leisge. Desmond Johnson fouled out at the end of regulation but the Skins hold on against a tough Middlesboro team. Good win for the Skins.

How about a sweatshirt that says: 2007 State Champs LOL... Better yet donate it to someone that needs it and I'll still be a closet fan...how's that?

I went to Bell County several years ago to watch Highlands VS Bell and we, being from Cumberland went just as football fans. We sat on the Highlands side and I'll say that the Highlands fans were incredible. I felt like none of the fans around me tried to make fun of me knowing I am from the mountains. I will speak to anyone and I have that southern hospitality that my folks instilled in me and it was good to see that they weren't talking down to me. I will never forget that and I appreciate those people that we talked to for being wonderful supporters of their school and even better representatives of their area. I've been a closet Highlands fan ever since....lol....I may even break down and try to find a hat or a sweatshirt somewhere (probably not here in Harlan County...lol):ylsuper:

HDE...I AGREED with you...lol There was a wee bit of sarcasm in my response... BUT some people from Evarts and Cumberland might say that there MIGHT be some prejudice with how the middle school football is done. Of course, you'll be a defender to the end so this argument will go no where for them. I just hope that there is a coach from outside the county that comes in that the kids from ALL teams will feel comfortable with. I'm sure all the kids are uncertain as to how they will be treated and if someone from the county is hired there will always be that "what if"...You hire someone from Evarts or Cumberland....Cawood people will be second guessing....Hire someone from Cawood the other two will have questions. So to make it to where everyone is o.k. with it....go outside the county. I'm in favor of getting someone that will treat ALL of these kids fairly and there won't be a question about it. I truly am for the kids of this county and I DO look forward to watching these kids compete together.

Yes, it absolutely matters. It matters to the individual schools and to the people of Harlan County. Head Coach from outside of the county with no ties....hire the coaches from each school as assistants...

My opinion...hire someone with NO ties or obligations to Harlan County. We need to start fresh and give ALL kids in the county a fair shot at playing time. Again, just my opinion.

Ok...Nothing personal...I apologize for bringing up Coach D...I am for all mountain schools also, so I guess my statement about Dudley and Bell getting it stuck to them was uncalled for. I guess that Bell's score was the first one that I saw and I went with it. I feel for the kids....that's all.

I'm not going to apologize for my opinion that "teams" do not need to run up the score. Sorry...won't happen. It's always good when you are the team that is on top...

To see teams score 70+ points in games? I noticed that Bell County beat McCreary 72-0 and I just can't bring myself to pat Bell on the back. Beating someone like this, to me, is uncalled for. I understand that sometimes teams just score no matter what but I also understand that some coaches like to be butt holes and run up the score. If Dudley gets this done to him...no pity here.:madman: What does this prove? This is not the pros...these kids don't get paid to do this.

Bulldogs score again in the third... Hazard 32, Cumberland 12 Skins can't get anything going and the 'dogs are for real.
