Leno stinks, Conan is the future. NBC better realize that.

About 2 inches in Richmond right now. Still light snow outside.
2 inches on the cars, concrete, and grass. About a half an inch to an inch of slush on the main roads, and anywhere from 1-2 inches of very slick snow on the side roads and parking lots.
The wind has started to pick up here, blowing snow everywhere...that should be interesting.
I was really surprised by the city of Richmond dropping the ball as far as treating the roads today. The main roads were fine all morning and afternoon, however, we started getting heavier snow from around 3 PM to 5 PM. For whatever reason, I failed to see a snow plow or salt truck anywhere on the bypass until 5:30 PM. I drive this road several times a day for work and the conditions on both sides of the road were terrible...they still aren't that great.
Sure enough, when they stopped plowing and salting, someone wrecked. Luckily, they only slid off the road onto a curb, but it could have been worse, and I'm betting there will be worse tonight if they don't get some more trucks out.

Till about 2.
Keep in mind, there is a secondary wave that's supposed to come through this evening. Could be another inch come down tonight into Friday morning.
Also, since this is such a dry snow, when the winds pick up drifting could occur, causing whiteout conditions for some drivers.

I've got a wii, but I'm disappointed that is the only console it will be released to. NBA Jam is my favorite game, I couldn't be stopped with Mitch Richmond and the Sacramento Kings.
Why so disappointed? It's about time Wii got an exclusive game other than Mario.
-
Wow, me and buddy were just talking about how awesome a new NBA Jam would be the other day.

What do your models say about the southwestern part of the state?
You guys will be on the short side according to TG Shuck. South/Southwest KY gets 1-3 inches.
They're calling for 3-5 in Central KY with higher accumulations in NKY.

278 was my highest in league play and my average was around 200.

Saw it in 3D and it's an amazing experience when seen this way, however, I don't think this will be a good buy for DVD as it will lose much of it's "wow" factor considering most of us don't have 100 foot wide HD screens and 3D glasses in our homes.

Was coming back from Columbus Sunday afternoon, so had to listen to the Bengals on the radio. Got a kick out of how many times Dave Lapham described Cincy's offense as "playing in a phone booth". (Okay, so I was a little ticked off about the play calling...but that's for a different thread!) But, what got me wondering, was how many people under 25 even know what a phone booth is?
Then I started thinking about some other phrases that are outdated, but still being used.
"Dial a number" - Just how many rotary phones are still out there?!?
"Pumping gas" - Didn't this go out in the 50's?
"Floppy disc" - Remember when they were the size of a small plate, and actually could bend!?!?!
"Record of the Year" - This one still gets me everytime a music awards show comes on.
Any others that come to mind?
My grandmother had a rotary phone until a few years ago.
I actually did have to pump gas one time at a hole-in-the-wall gas station in the middle of nowhere in Eastern KY. Somewhere near Whitesburg.

Worked until 3 PM today, but am off Christmas day and until Monday.

Here's a used Barbie house on eBay for $36 right now. Ends in 8 hours.
Also, I could have sworn that Kohl's had these things last week when I was in there.
I don't have kids, but the way my parents avoided situations like these were to make us write and "send" a letter to Santa listing the things we wanted. If we later wanted something before Christmas, my parents would just say, "If it wasn't on the list, then Santa doesn't know to bring it to you."
We would then be told that we could ask for it next year or for our birthdays if we still wanted it.

Have not seen it yet, but was told that it was amazing and 3D is the way to go if you have it in your area.

Unofficial measure, since I haven't ventured outside yet, but I'd say where I'm at in Richmond has about 3+ inches on the cars, 2 inches on the grass, and about an inch of slush on the road/driveways.
We'll see if I can make it to work this morning in my tiny, 2WD Toyota Celica...my car is parked on a hill.

Oh, I'll add another thing that's become obsolete in the last decade. That is the use of proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
-
Floppy disks.
I'm not sure that was in the last decade. I haven't used a floppy disk since probably 1997.

A lot of photographers still use film, as the digital image still hasn't quite caught up to film as far as richness and detail of the image.
Agree here. Many professional photographers still use film, but for the casual user, they're mostly all digital now.

I read on another forum that 648 is the channel on Direct TV.
I guess there's no way for me to know until game day. I pulled up that channel and it's a FSS alternate that just says To Be Announced.
-
My sports package on Dish is showing UK playing on channel 447.
I searched Dish Network's TV schedule and it said UK would be playing on channel 421, however, that channel is showing the Tenn. vs. USC game at 4 PM.
I do not have Dish, I just did the search on their website and that's what it came up with.
-
Anyone with direct tv and the sports package can get it. I think it is channel 642 or around there somewhere. I saw it the other night and they had a game on.
Nope. CSN is not the same as CSS. 642 on DirecTV is Comcast Sports Net.
Also, for good measure, I searched the programming guide and Channel 642 on DirecTV will be playing the Tennessee vs. USC basketball game instead of the UK game.

I hope Pikeville can get it together. They need some stability and the turnover for coaches in their program has been pretty bad. If they are looking for someone new, what quality coach will they be able to find if they can not commit to supporting someone longterm. (or at least for more than a season.)
IMO, they should have never let McNamee, the coach from 99-2003, go. McNamee went across the mountain to Pike Central, but this past year was an assistant coach for the Panthers. I'd say that's who will end up back at the helm in Pikeville, which is sad because he's a great coach, and had they just let him stay, imagine the stability and growth he could have brought to the program. Hopefully someone at Pikeville learns not to fix what isn't BROKEN!

After 1 year? Unless he resigned on his own this would be a shock. Especially with him being an alumni. There schedule is brutal for a class A school, out of the district. There district is one of the worst in the state. Still a pretty good job, IMO.
I don't think he was fired, I'm hearing it was more of a "forced to resign." And again, I don't think this was because of this year's season record or their first round playoff loss.
-
If I absolutely had to guess, I would say this isn't because of the results on the football field.

HD DVD players and DVDs...thanks to BluRay. Oh, and good television. It's all been replaced by reality TV blockbusters like "The Real Housewives of (insert city here)" and "Keeping Up With The (insert random celebrities who haven't actually done anything to deserve being a celebrity)."

I've got my TSO tickets and this will be my 3rd time seeing them in concert. The concert is an absolutely amazing display of music, staging, and lights. I can't wait to see them later this week. You going to be there Aiden?
Unfortunately I have a final that day and another big final the next morning at 8 AM, so as much as I'd like to go, it'd probably be best to stay home and study. I did consider buying tickets though, as I still haven't seen TSO live.
Jay Leno back to 11:30?

Conan was obviously angry and you could tell because of the passion in his jokes about NBC. His cracks on NBC were the best stuff he had all night.
I hope Conan sticks it to NBC and makes the move to another network.
