  1. What a joke? This state final was the worst officiated meet in the history of all track meets. Central kid wins the 300 hurdles and is forced to run it again at the end of the meet. PT kid falls in the lane of another which makes him fall. This is what is told to Central coaches. After watching it on WHAS 11 there was no foul.

The officials makes the Central kid run the race over. After running the last leg of the 4X4. Giving him only 15 minutes to recover. Central kid falls in the 2nd 4x4 and the team loses the state title.

  2. CovCath moves down a class and wins a state title.

  3. Central's defense showed the offense that they are still the main attraction to this team. Beating the offense of a score of 27 - 24. Led by Patterson, 10 young players showed they are able to step in the shoes of Ridge Wilson, Mister Cobble, and other departing seniors. (Lewis #8) did not play. Central held a Black and Gold Scrimmage last Friday with Refs and all. This program is becoming one of the better ones in Jefferson County. Rosters were handed out to 50 to 75 people that was at the game. There was a PA guy calling the game, along with music between plays. I was impressed.

Patterson looks to have dropped a little weight. Ran down a couple of those speedy backs as well. He looks to be a step or two faster. Those younger defensive players really impressed me. It is going to be interesting to see if Scroggins can get this team back to the Championship game.

The offense did not look as explosive as I thought it would be. King (#17 - QB) did not play, along with two of those returning linemen. Nevertheless, Diaz Bolden (#12) had some bright moments at QB. Robinson did what he wanted to do. He is by far the fastest and best WR in the state. The Wales kid, (#2) is the next big time RB. He had well over 100 yards rushing. Central is going to have him for 3 more years. Should be the next big star to come out of Central.

This program is headed in all the right directions.

  4. Your right, Patterson was the third person DC's had to worry about. Cobble always had a double team. However watching both him and Wilson play the LB position, Patterson is a better LB. I believe he shines this year. When we plays mad there is no one that can block this kid.

Getting Robinson the ball should be at the top of Scroggins' spring list. I just don't see him lining up in the backfield alot. Central is loaded on offense, spreading that ball around is going to be a task. But he did a good job last season at getting everyone touches. Diaz Bolden, Gerald Young, Chris King, and that Freshmen RB (Wales #2) are names you are going to hear about.

  5. Louisville Central, IMO will be one of the better teams in the state again next season. Rumors in Louisville is that their incoming Freshmen group is going to be outstanding. After winning two titles and beating Male, kids are starting to line up to get in there. LC will be around and on top for many years. Just my thought.

Hard to believe, but they should be better next year than they were this past season. Returning 9 players that started on offense...an offense that avg. 42 points in the playoffs. All of their skill kids are returning. The question for this team is how do fill the gaps on defense. Tim Patterson and Micheal Lewis are the only returning starters. Both have started since they were Soph.

Expect them to make a good push in the 2009 Playoffs.

  6. What about Louisville Central? There isn't much talk on here about them, yet they have been TOUGH the last couple of seasons. Was it just a good group that came through, or was it are they just becoming one of the best in state consistently?

My pick for down this year in 1A, would be Campbellsville. I know that isn't a stretch, but after the high expectations (pre-season top 10 by me and many others on here) that they failed to attain last year, I don't see them turning things around for a couple years.

  7. Now that there is not an official KY-Tenn All-Star game the state has decided to put together an East/West game, that I believe is a joke. I'm from Jefferson County and there is not a fair representation of the county on those teams. T and X have way too many players and there are a ton of public school kids not on here. It has become a very political game. It's about who you know now. Something must be done to make this a better all-star game.

How about splitting the state into four regions and play two games at a site in one of the regions area. Every four years your region would host the all-star games. IMO, this is a much better idea that the one we are using now.

What to you guys think? I know that Jefferson County Coaches have started the talk.

  8. Why is the male enrollment so much lower than female at Central? Are they admitting more girls than boys every year? If so, why? If not, what else going on?

What else could be going on? What type of question is that? Central has always had more girls than boys to apply.

Back to the topic: Central has a good shot at going back to the championship game. Replacing 10 seniors that played is going to be tough. Good luck Jackets.

  9. Louisville Central only had 10 seniors. Most of them played defense. They will have to find some players that like to hit and run to the football. Offense, LC returns 8. All skill players are back. That could be dangerous with them avg. 42 points in the playoffs.

    QB - King

    FB - Boleware

HB - Wales (started but shared time with Hughes)

    Z - Young / Bolden

    X - Robinson

    3 lineman

  10. Central started out like they were scared. Settled down after a long talk from their coaching staff at the half. Was at St. X 8 yard line when the clock ran out. Special teams killed Central. 2 attemps at a punt that went no where, 1 kickoff return for a TD and one that went back to the 30. Good job X and hats off to Central for fighting back making it a game.

  11. Does anyone know if this score was aviodable?

No it was not. Central threw the ball 4 times in the first quater and that was it. They returned 3 fumbles for TD's and took the opening kicking off back to the 10. Eight or Nine different players scored and they only scored 7 points in the second half. Freshmen played the second half. This was not a run the score up game. Moore had 12 fumbles.

  12. St. X won't need to for this game. It's a rout. Central lacks discipline and handed Male their heads. Central's kicking game is not good and Male could not take advantage.

St. X wins this one going away 56-7. Green scores once for the Dawgs.

I must say that I am disappointed in another person's thoughts. How can Central lack discipline? Do you say this because they are an all black team that beat MALE, or do you say this because you have "lack" of character? thsrocks, come watch this team play because of your "lack" of words, I know you have not seen them play. These words may have been true before Scroggins took over, but I have not seen this "Lack of Dicipline" you suggest they have.

Lets wait and see how much discipline they have when they play another team in the county that has some of the same type of kids....OCT 3. I will say this again, I'm very disappointed in your words thsrocks.

  13. Due to the recent weather, JCPS schools have called off school for Monday, Tuesday, and now Wednesday. Does anyone have any information on rather or not they will play this weekend? Teams have not practice at all, which could cause problems in some games. There are some key district match-ups this weekend,....ie. Valley and Fairdale.
