If they give financial aid, no bounderies, and can recruit students then YES. I will give you that. When you say we are not targeting athletics, I understand. But someone in the system is and it is so easy with the system and policies to get them there.

Sticky, I don't think that I as a public school can do some of the things that privates do. The open house for instance, if a child goes to Corbin, lives in Corbin, I can't recruit him to come to Bell for academics and athletics. I don't think that I can send flyers with our total school experience on it and he/she will be eligible in athletics, even though I'm not just targeting athletics. I believe that it is a double standard. Along with finanicial aid it is way out of balance. Cover Corner said it best when he said that it is much like the college experience. From recruiting, to financial aid and no boundries these things give you an advantage that other do not have. It is so obvious that with this practice an alarming amout of good athletes just happen to be involved. I'm suprised that no one has commented on the Tn. post. Split and multiplier with city school and private winning. Why do you think that others are trying to level the field. Are all these other states wrong, are all the schools in KY that voted for this wrong? We are all wrong except for the handful of private schools.

I don't blame private, I would fight against it all the way if I had the advantages. It is going to happen, you can count on it.

I'm speaking in hypotheticals, surely you know that. I can't do or get done anything I mentioned. I wish I could because sports mean alot to me. I'll bet anyone on here, anything you want to bet, that the KHSAA will not answer the question if ask by someone like me. No way will they get into that.

Can't spend that kind of money, we would have to select ourselves. I don't believe any of this would fly with the KHSAA, but we will find out if they will give us an answer.

I can't disagree with you as of now without knowing the truth. I will call the KHSAA and verify if we as a public school can do this. Open House for students not in our district that attend other middle schools in and outside of our county. Provide not only academic info, but also athletic. Promote our total school experience.(recruit students) You know, what a way to also bring our test scores up, by looking at applications with certain background information. WOW the possibilities.One question who is on the selection committee, our super is an old football coach would that come into play?

Looking at the Tn. state finals, they have a split, several observations; Private school won in the Div. I with all the public, no one crying foul. Maryville High School wins 60 games in a row, 5 out of 6 state championships, no one wanting to kick them out of the division because of winning to much, independent or city school in great location. Folks seem to accept things more when attempts are made to level the field. I have found out that they split and use multiplier. What do they know or have found out, that we can't even seem to acknowledge? From top to bottom probally better high school football than we have.

Not time for a multipler, it's time for a split.

I'll explain, when just getting started (not much to bragg about) you really have to go get'em (recruit). After some success your program will start recruiting itself (academics). Success will continue and flurish under this pretense of we only show the academic side. If you don't get caught early less chance of getting caught.

As a parent at Bell can I take it upon myself to go out and reecruit so my kid plays on a good team. NO
