  1. Checking out from the insanity! Watched a lot of "Olympic Sports", "World Cups", etc... over my life. Just because I watched, doesn't mean I knew what I was talking about. Been around a long time and have seen, coached and played at a level higher than most. Not that it matters, but unless you are Trent Dilfer, John Gruden, Chris Collinsworth, Merill Hoge, Ron Jaworski or someone that has stood on the opposite side of a defense/offense, taken a snap, dropped backed, took a handoff and been there, at a higher level, (high school football doesn't count), then you are not an expert. I love the fact that you "think" you are an expert because you have "watched" football for many years, yet someone disagrees with your "not so expert opinion" and you get defensive. Like I have said before, I get it! This site is a place for people to express their opinions, whether or not their opinions merit any consideration or not, but it is still your opinion. Everyone has one! Unfortunately there is no "test" or "checking of credentials" to verify any one's opinion. I sincerely hope that everyone has fun with this site, but more importantly I hope those that think they know everything, really take a moment to think before they post. If you really had any idea about what you were saying, you would consider the circumstance that each team is facing in each game. Everyone has their "expert opinion" and it is "very easy" to sit in the stands and see a receiver "wide open", a hole that was "wide open" a play that was there, but someone "screwed up". Unless you have played and experienced this at a level greater than a high school, where most of the coaches haven't experienced, then I suggest you keep your, "arm chair/running back/oc/dc/opinion to yourself. Encourage kids to get better, root for your team! But please, do not insert your "expert opinion" into you comments. It was once told to me, "No matter how tough or smart you are, there is always someone smarter and tougher." "If you don't believe me, go ahead and find out for yourself." Good Luck to everyone! No need to respond, as I will not be around to view, I have officially signed off of the "ignorant comments" and "expert opinions" for good! May everyone who thinks they are smart continue to think they are smart, and everyone who knows what they are talking about have the grace, glory and wisdom to turn the other cheek.
  2. Although I appreciate the few on here that actually have some sense and knowledge about the game, there aren't many, I despise people that use this site as an opportunity to "grind personal axes", "make up things that aren't true" and really make a complete fool of themselves. To blatantly go on here and make up stories about high school players insinuating that they got in "trouble" and were suspended, when in reality the kid was at the orthopedic surgeon on Tuesday getting a cortisone shot, hoping/praying that he would get a chance to play in one of the biggest games of the season, is "SO SAD". Not sure who you are and really don't care, but if I were a "moderator" or "The GURU" himself, I would suspend you ability to share your opinions for the rest of the season. I am sure you have now set off an unnecessary rumor that could, and probably will, create doubt about a pretty good young man's integrity across NKY. I think the best rule of thumb for everyone on here is to use the "Ashley Madison" test and ask yourself, "If BGP were to get hacked and my identity was revealed to the world, would I be willing to stand up and be proud of the things I post?" I don't post often, but when these things happen people like "JOAT", "THEOLEBALLCOACH" and myself have to step up and say "enough is enough". Good luck to all the rest of the year and I hope people think before hitting submit!
  3. Absolutely. Not to say anyone under 6' 2", 245 can't play D1, but when it comes to camps and recruiting, they are looking for something that "catches their eye". Can't coach height or speed. But you also can't teach "HEART"! Undersized, not that fast, WORK YOUR REAR END off, prove yourself, turn some heads....NEVER KNOW!
  4. Head Coach, Indiana University, Friday Night Lights Camp, 2015. Paraphrased - "We had a young man attend our camp last year. He was well over 300 pounds and we had never heard of him before. He came to our camp, hustled his A** off and competed! Went 100% every drill, every competition. During our "just play" portion of our camp, he stood out as someone that wanted to compete. After speaking with my coaches, we offered him! He wound up going to a different school, but because of his passion, hustle and desire to compete, we offered. This is what we want! Kids that want to compete! So, while you are out there, hustle everywhere. Sprint on and off and COMPETE! We are watching every move. You never know when what you do, makes a difference. Both positive/negative!" Just sharing! Good Luck to ALL!
  5. Swore I would never post again, but this is ridiculous! Barker? Really?
  6. To clarify. Not saying Hergott should be on the list of Top 10. Just saying that he won 3 SC's as starting QB.
  7. Your right! I will speak with some of the members and try and make it to the next meeting. Unfortunately, travel with JOB puts me out of town most of the week. Thanks for the "kick in the butt" inspiration to do something about it. Not sure if I can, but I will give it my best effort.
  8. For years, this has been an "accident" waiting to happen. Understanding that the stadium is "really old" and there is a "history", "nostagiia" that resonates with David Cecil Memorial Stadium. I cannot tell you how many times I have "cringed" when a running back, wide receiver or defender makes a play on either sideline or corner of the field. Although the hometeam's sidelines seem safer that the visitors, neither is very safe. I have personally witnessed a defender making a tackle on the visitors sidelines, sliding head first into the "stairs"/"ramp" leading up to the stands. The game was delayed for some time. Thankfully, the participant was ok. "Is it going to take someone getting seriously injured for Highlands to put in some type of safety measures for these young men." Both "sidelines" have stairs that extend out from the school and/or the stands. Both, whether concrete or steel, are extremely dangerous. There is no padding or barriers to prevent/slow down an athlete from seriously injuring themselves. Both endzones on the school side are ridiculous. The stairs to the concession area, stairs to the "visitor" lockerroom (old gym) and especially the windows on the Middle School end of the field. Once again, I understand that David Cecil Memorial Stadium is landlocked and there is no where to go. QUESTION: Can't Ft. Thomas City Council/School Board/Someone spend a few bucks on something that is vitally important and protect our Student Athletes from a serious injury? Portable Padding? Barriers? Anything? Yes, I realize David Cecil Memorial Stadium has been around a long time and to my knowledge, no one has been "seriously" injured due to the stadium or close proximity of the school to the field. If OSHA stopped by and had "authority" over David Cecil Memorial Stadium, they would probably "shut it down" due to "hazardous conditions". If you haven't been to a game at David Cecil Memorial Stadium and lived the "OH C - - P, moments that many Highlands faithful have, then you may not understand this post. If you have been to a game at David Cecil Memorial Stadium, you know exactly what I am talking about. I pray that no one gets seriously injured and I think it is time that the city/school system steps up and puts in "safety" measures to prevent any athlete from the potential serious injury that this field presents. Sorry for the "rant". Just hate to see any child be put in a situation where "going all out" could danger their health.
  9. Is this the kid from Hazard? If so, I just watched his sophmore Hudl highlight film and I would say his footwork, poise and accuracy look pretty strong. I realize it is a highlight film, but from what I saw from a mechanical aspect, the kid is legit.
  10. I would have to agree. Hopefully someone gets involved and helps Cameron with putting together a highlight tape. Looks like a tape of every play he ran as QB. At 6' 1" 180 the best bet is to put your best plays on your highlight tape. Best of Luck to this young man.
  11. Great Kid, Great family. You would have to ask the coach for CC Red Devils.
  12. Did not play QB in the Red Devils Org, unless you are speaking about a Red Devils Org other than Campbell Co Red Devils.
  13. Yes I did read what I typed before I posted. The top portion was what Colonels Wear Blue posted. Scroll back towards the beginning. I don't want to belabor this point, just find it comical how someone takes an opportunity to throw out that Beechwood's recent record against Mayfield has tarnished their reputation, while inquiring where a kid grew up and insinuating that a kid would not play for his uncle because the schools reputation is tarnished. Then go on and act like they didn't mean anything by it. Just tired of folks that are clueless throwing their "butt darts" out there and back peddling when called out. Sounds to me like we are on the same page with this.
  14. If not, sounds like Beechwood's record against Mayfield in recent years is doing some damage to their reputation if he wasn't interested in going to play for Uncle Greg at Beechwood. Nothing to do with Highlands. "Beechwood's record against Mayfield in recent years is doing damage to their reputation?"
