I quit reading after page 9 due to the redundancy of comments, so sorry if I missed it, but I think everyone is missing the big-picture point here: If you're a legit D1 talent, and Patrick most definitely was coming out of HHS, then GO TO A TRUE FOOTBALL SCHOOL with a proven track record and system. I've watched so many promising kids from KY get derailed in college by letting in-state loyalty cloud their judgment of what's truly best for their future. I love that they're all committed to where they came from, but IMO, that doesn't justify passing up better opportunities in established programs that will give you a better chance of success.

Apparently Shelby Jones knows what he's doing. -
Yep. It cuts out to nothing for a while. Then cuts to commercials in the middle of plays.

Any internet radio tonight?

He did. -
How about how many Scott base runners were caught stealing or picked off in that first HHS Frosh baseball game?

SG ESQ - Couldn't have said any of that better myself. Thanks for putting into words what so many of us feel. It would appear you've made me an offer I can't refuse. See you next year!

The hit by pitch was not at all questionable. Kid stuck his knee way out there. Could be clearly seen by everyone sitting behind the plate. I don't blame him for trying, but the right call was made.

I believe that I personally saw the first varsity appearance of every pitcher currently on HHS's roster, and Kreeger's was one of the best that I can remember. Seemed to show no nerves at all. Oddly enough, I can remember at least two others who also entered with bases loaded for their first appearance.

Coming in hot indeed. Pretty bold second post.

Was tonight a moral victory for CovCath?

There's no doubt that the decision to punt with 9:00 to go and down by three scores is one that will bother Coach Wirth all winter, and one most likely he'll learn from. Justified or not, it gave everyone at DCM the vibe he was conceding. -
In my opinion, you cannot adequately answer Ru's question without first defining the purpose of high school sports, and maybe also without defining the purpose of youth sports in general. I don't think you'd have too much difficulty gaining consensus on this board that the place of youth sports in our society has gotten out of wack, and if we'd all take a step back & re-evaluate the purpose of sports to begin with, Ru's question would probably answer itself. We all love our winning programs, but are they serving the purpose they were established for?

Spot on. There are plenty of "travel" & "select" teams out there that play at or below D1 Knothole level, especially at the middle & elementary school levels. There are only so many kids playing baseball in the greater Cincinnati area. Of that body of kids, today as compared to 20 years ago a greater percentage of them play SWOL as compared to Knothole, but that doesn't mean that a greater percentage of them are truly select level players, they're just playing in a different league.
