  1. With the knowlege that you posses tell me how programs like Monroe and Green have come out of no where. It was just 4 years ago that Green County was I think 1-19 or 2-28, and now all of a sudden it is Green and Monroe in a second regional championship. It just does not make any sense for these teams to beat Bardstown and Danville every year. What is your thought. Just a Fan
  2. Just suprised to see how balanced 2A is and the level of competition that exist in Region 4. I do not know where there is more consistency from top to bottom. Appears a lot good players as well as coaches exist in this region because of the consistency. HERSAY you seem to know more than anyone on the board about the programs and the coaches at these schools what do you think.
  3. Glasgow is a progam that has a storied passed with both players and coaches, much like Kentucky Basketball (see the problem) Some say this would be a good fit or that would be a good fit. Look at Monroe, Metcalfe, and Green all 3 have won very consistently in the 2000's. Green was down a couple of years, but still have about 76% winning percentage. All 3 have coaches that played and now coach for their schools (Pride) makes a difference. If my history serves me right this would be only the 2nd time that glasgow has gone outside if the hire Wood successful at his school Edmonson. Give the young guy a chance if he wants stay within he will be okay.
  4. I guess for those of you that set through the 1hour and 2 hour classes to get a degree in physical education and said at the time I am not going to be a doctor why should I have Kineseolgy, Anatomy, Physiology, Physiology of activity, conditioning and biomedics, strength training and conditioining, periodization for all sports are seeing the effect of being able to defend yourself on the stand. Today so many times coaches are hired by site based councils that do not have a clue, so guess what many coaches do not have a clue as well. This is pobably not the case with Mr. Stinson, but it should raise questions about the entire coaching profession. In 1991 I was a college coach on a Division I staff (affirmitive action hit) 2 minority coaches were placed on every college football staff in America no matter their qualifications, and many good coaches left the profession in other words qualifications did not mean anything just the color of one's skin. This is just another example of how our society has let those be in charge without the background to do so. I wish Mr. Stinson, the family, and every coach in America the best. Without teams and team work are society will diminish even more.
  5. Only 5 teams on that schedule went over 500 last year. 2 of the teams won less than 3 games. Looks pretty weak other tan Marion, Bullit East, John Hardin, Greenwood, and Meade. Everybody else they should beat and name the score. Bardstown and North will be young, but the other teams are not good football progrms.
  6. Reputation cannot be built on what you are going to do. Once again good Luck!!!!!
  7. Not to discredit the program, but Mark Brown was Nelson County football, before him they were about where they are now. Mark was a great coach at Marion before he went to Nelson and if my mind serves me right he was the person that started John Hardin program. However, if beating Bardstown is your State Championship (Walk before Run mentality) then put someone on the schedule that shows your players that you are serious about being a football program. Look at Danville schedule for instance they have better 6A teams on it than are in your District other than John Hardin and Meade you play no one. It is time for a reality check. And by the way all the guys that coached 20 plus years ago are the reason for the great facilities and tradition, but it would be hard to understand if you were never in the fire when head coaches coached 2 or more sports and made less for those 3 than an assistant will come off the golf course for today.
  8. Maybe you did not read my earlier post. I think it is great that they got a new coach and did it in a timely manner. However, Coach Mason as well as Bruner as well as Spalding in my opinion did good jobs as I elluded to earlier. I feel Coach Spalding was a victim of a successful program going through a down cycle, but an excellent coach. The others the same, not much success in Wins or Loses, but that is how the public measrues your program. If this guy is the missing link then go ahead and re-post the job, because if he does not Win early he also will lose the players, because it is easy to see by remarks in the newspaper he did not support Bruner. Once again best of Luck to the players, the community and the program.
  9. After reading the article and now having the understanding of the back stabbing that was apparently taking place in the program I would say when the new principal is hired that they will take a step and hire someone that has the dignity to say positive thing about people that they have worked with. After reading this I have lost a lot or respect for the program. Again, Good Luck
  10. You would think a program of this caliber and potential after going 12-29 in the last four years would have evaluated this situation a little different. Maybe by going inside this sends a clear message to young men that play football (If you want to play for a championship/go to Bardstown), or maybe someone else was offered and did not except because of the shaky administrative situation within the entire school district. If you look at the total picture if you were offered the position chances are you would not be working for the same admistration that is there now. Best of Luck to the new coach and most of all to the community and the players. Your friend in sports
  11. I would say with this type of position and the turnover in the program that they will take their time and hire a quality coach that intends to re-build this football program from the top all the way down. Today it seems that coaches are always looking for the next best job rather than building a tradition. Mark Brown built a solid tradition their, and it has slipped away. The Echoes can be restored, but I think it will come from outside.
  12. Teams have run this for years or variations of it. As a coach the first time I faced it was in the late 90's when Jerry Perry went to Danville. He does a great job as well as coach Harp in implementing things that are new or different that give them the opportunity to get all their great athletes on the field. As the Mummy/Franklin generation has taken hold I see more teams using this and a Nickel with 2 deep to defend the pass as well as the zone read running game. If you do not have this in your defensive system then you will have trouble if you just play man. Some teams can play a pro (4-3) look and be ok verse run or pass but in high school you need to be able to stop both, but again having it in as a package gives you great versatility. If I was going to implement it I would get in contact with Coach Perry/Harp at Danville. They implemented long before anyone else around in high school and know the good and bad.
  13. What will it take for them to Win there? It seems like everything is in place, but what needs to be done? They have had great coaches, community support, great facilities, but only 1 or 2 seasons above .500 in ten years. It seems to me that this would be a good opportunity for someone that wanted to re-build a program. Looking from the outside in I think the community is ready for a winner.
  14. I think it will be a great game for both teams. Both are well coached and have played good competition. Seems like Green has been in the fire since they played Monroe and lost also to Marion. I am suprised Green could go to Danville and Win without Rogers, a guy that still leads 2A in rushing. Should be a great game. Monroe seems to be a very confident team at this time.
  15. It is great to see to quality teams open the season to get better. It does not look to me that either of these programs are scared to get better. If you want to get better play better teams. This has to be one of the best football kickoffs in a long time. Congratulations to both teams for a war on the field. (Defiantely different coaching styles) both were effective and worked well. A lot of athletes on the field
