I was loking at the schedules of several teams on the link provided on another thread and was amazed at the difference in the numbers of games listed on the schedules.

 

Quite a few teams have 40 games scheduled for the season. The lowest I saw was CovCath at 15.

 

Boone Co has 40 while another school in the same school district, Conner, has only 20.

 

Was so varied?

Also, coaches over schedule do to the fact of rain games.

Conner has 40+ games scheduled with several tournaments that will include minimum of 3 games each tourney.

I wanted to bring this back up because I was curious as to how many games that a team can play in a season. With the weather being as it has been this year, there have not been a lot of rainouts. Does this mean that teams will have to cancel games late in the year? Does a tourney such as the Doc Morris count as one game or the actual number of games that you actually play?

36 is the most games a team can play in a regular season and there is no more three tourney games count as one game, so if you play one game, it counts as one game against the 36.

If the weather continues to be nice, at some point Coaches will have to try to predict the future and play enough games to keep sharp but not so many that they have to cancel several games right before district tournaments. It is a nice problem to have and much preferred to the farce that was last year's "tropical rain forest" weather.
