I would gues anyone who is from America and fighting against us is treason.

If convicted of treason then the sentence can be that of death.

 

The real issue is that there was never a trial for treason, there was never a sentence passed. The killing were on 'executive order' without any due process.

 

Why no trial? National security to protect critical 'secrets'? Lack of capture of the target subject? Who knows. It is possible to try someone in their absence.

 

I consider the complete lack of any due process and the use of pure 'executive order' is the real issue to me. If at the end of that due process if an order of death is handed down then so be it. But the known killings thus far have been completely without due process.

As far as I know, there are so many who believe our great government would never kill an innocent life if indeed they were not going to do something destructive to our country. So therefore, why have a trial and waste taxpayer money and time.

Administrations in general, and this one in particular, look for reasons to bypass the Constitution. Taxpayer cost and efficiency are not very good reasons to drop the document into the shredder. Especially when it comes taking of anyones life. No matter how bad they are made out to be by the government or the press.

 

Since this is being done to fight the 'war on terror' this reminds of something we told ourselves in the days after 9/11. That was we would continue on and not let terrorism alter our way of life because otherwise we have 'let the terrorist win'. Well, if we allow the threat of terrorism to erode or eliminate the most basic concepts of the very document the establishes and protects our way of life - then the terrorists have REALLY won and won big.

One of the mistakes I believe that was made from the beginning was to declare ourselves engaged in a "War on Terror." Terror is a tool, not an enemy. It is impossible to ever win a victory or declare cessation of war with a tactic.

So the leader of the FBI is not sure if arbitrary, targeted killing of American citizens by unilateral decree of an executive order within the borders, without a trial and without independent review is legal or not.
