I think a great deal of Christians would be offended. With that said I don't think he gives a flip what offends Christians. Muslims on the other hand...........

 

Your last 3 points are interesting. He apologized and 2 soldiers were murdered and Islamic groups continue to strike against us and our interest. By apologizing we showed weakness that these nut jobs see as blood in the water. All he did was justify their actions. At least in their minds.

I wish we would just get out of there and let Karzai fend for himself. No American life is worth saving any of them.

The question posed asked about the need for the President to apologize if a Christian Bible was accidentally burned. We're not sacrificing men and women in a war against people who are for the Christian Bible. So, if it was an accident and Christians in the US realize that then why in the world are we trying to equate that to the burning of a sacred book to people who are trying to kill soldiers? I fail to grasp the connection.

 

This apology was strategic in that it was aimed to prevent mass protests in the streets as to support a weak and struggling leader in Karzai. It worked. There are no mass protests because the apology was read by Karzai and a majority of the people who would have been offended it accepted it and moved on. Had there not been an apology the potential for mass protests and potentially a revolt against Karzai would certainly have damaged our cause.

 

If you guys want to say that one death negates the value of the apology have at it. You're wrong but you're entitled to an opinion.

 

When we have US citizens taking up arms and killing thousands of US soldiers then we can intelligently discuss the need for an apology over an accidental burning.

 

You guys are just looking for something to complain about and this isn't it. Complain about the war in general. Complain that active military may be asked to pay more for their healthcare. Complain about unemployment.

You're right about 1 thing. This president is going to have to hit a bases empty grand slam home run for me to have anything good to say about him. I freely admit it. You're completely in the tank for him and yet you try to pass yourself off as unbiased.

How big are your thighs? They must be huge after being able to make such a big jump from my simple questions to you saying that's my "foreign policy." I've re-read it and simply cannot see how you got from A to B.

Clyde, I'm not saying that the president shouldn't have apologize. I think he should have told them we made a mistake and asked for their forgiveness. I'm simply stating that he wouldn't to the same if a Christian group was offended and apparently you agree. I think that speaks volumes about this particular president. He's tried to make friend with the Islamic world for 3 plus years and it hasn't and will not work. On the other hand he has done nothing but push a secular agenda on the American public and could care less if it offends the Christian community.
