Was just wondering what happened to shcools having the day off when one of there teams are playing in state. When I was in school if any team made it to a state tournament and the game was on a school day classes were called off that day. I heard Walton is not cancelling school for the girls games this week, I would understand if they had snow days are something but they don't. Maybe somebody could explain this to me.:confused:

At NewCath, they allowed excused absences today but you had to buy your ticket at school and then check in with a designated person while at the game to prove you were there. I can understand not cancelling school altogether; there are some people out there that don't follow sports. (I know, sad but true).

The All "A" Classic is not a KHSAA sponsored state tournament. I wonder if this may have an effect on whether or not the schools close.

Thats what I was thinking also. But for these small schools this is there only chance to be in a state tourny, so I would like to see it done the same as the big one.

Owsley County has always cancelled school on the day their teams have played in the All A State. The boys have been there 4 times and the girls twice.

Simply not true...

For the most part it is true, sure there are some small schools who make state like Walton did last year, but most schools don't go to state.
