That may be the most drastic turn around I have ever heard of in basketball. Was Knute Rockne in the Lady Stangs locker room at half?

Charles Dickens wrote his masterpiece "A Tale of Two Cities" 153 years ago. Had the iconic author been at the Touchstone Energy All "A" State Tournament today he probably would have entitled it "A Tale of Two Halves." True to the 19th century novel, todays game was about the lead up to the true "Revolution."

Harlan held Bishop Brossart to 11 points in the first half as they hit only 3 of 19 shots for 15.8%. They led the Lady 'Stangs 21-11 at the intermission when things looked grim for Coach Feldmann's now 18-3 team. Then the Lady 'Stang defense and offense combined for a little "shock and awe" unmatched since the Irag War.

Brossart totally dominated the Lady Dragons (15-7) by outscoring the 13th Region Champion 43-10 in the second half to cruise 54-31.

A 20-6 third quarter advantage and an even better 23-4 edge in the fourth quarter took all of the fire out of the dragons.

"I wasn't totally unhappy the first half," said Feldmann."Our defense played well holding them to 21 points. All week long we told them it would be our 11 against their 6 or 7. Our depth proved to be huge. We don't have that one player that scores 30 a game. We rely on our depth and turning defense into offense."

Sophomores Sarah Futscher and Madison Eisenman led the way for Brossart. Futscher finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds while Eisenman had 10 pointsand five big steals. Junior Rachel Hartig and Sophomore Abby Stadtmiller each had 5.

"I wouldn't trade our team for any team when it comes to playing hard for 32 minutes a game," shouted a course voiced Feldmann. His team will now be in the Quarterfinals Friday morning at 10 AM vs Louisville Holy Cross.

Despite trailing 21-11 at the half they rallied to dominate almost every category except rebounding where they were one down at 29-28. 6'1" Harlan Senior Ashley Mullins finished with 16 points and 7 boards.

The Lady 'Stangs had huge edges in bench points (21-2), free throw points (19-2), points off turnovers (22-14). They rallied to shoot 54.2% from the floor for the game and probably had their best free throw day making 19 of 28 for 67.9%.

Brossart also had a big edge in defensive stops 49 to 33 and points in the paint 22-16.

All in all another inpressive showing.

In case you are wondering Holy Cross is 17-3 and like BBHS beat Owensboro Catholic nad Daviess County narrowly and lost to Henderson Co. Should be a good one.

A tale of two good halves would be even better.

I'd say it was probably more likely The Sandman was in their locker room BEFORE the game. The Lady Stangs coaches kicked him out at halftime and had a little WAKE UP discussion.

Congrats Coach Feldman and the Lady Stangs !
