George Rogers Clark 50 Rowan County 48

Featured Replies

Yes. but I think Clark is playing better ball at this point in time.

40th district could be a battle if these two meet in the finals. I wouldn't want to draw either team in the region. Montgomery Co only has two losses and that was when Handshoe was out sick. They had a very impressive win last night against the #1 team in the 1st region.

We will know more come Jan 13th when the Indians travel to Winchester to take on the Cards.

Was an awesome game last night. Great win by the Cards! Hate that I missed being there. Clark is playing very well at the moment and I see them only improving. However, so will everyone else. Montgomery Co game will be big, and GRC has Harrison on the schedule as well. Also Mason comes to GRC on Feb 3rd. All huge regional games. These will all be very telling as post-season starts up.

Great game Cardinals, although these close ones are nerve wracking.Still love them though. Also congrats to rowan, great sportmanship.

ASHLAND — George Rogers Clark refuses to lose.

The AIT finish didn’t come without some tense moments down the stretch. Clark (10-2), which never led by more than 10 points and never trailed in the second half, made four free throws in the final minute to hold off the Vikings. Clark seniors Bopper Stenzel and Taylor Howard each made a pair of free throws in the last 23 seconds. Howard’s two charity tosses with 10.3 seconds remaining sealed the deal and stretched the team’s winning streak to 10 games going into the new calendar year.

During the team’s successful three-day run in the tourney, Fatkin scored 47 points and gave the Cards a viable presence in the post.

“He is a tremendous, tremendous high school player,” Humphrey said of Fatkin. “He’s so solid in how he carries himself everyday at school and in the community. You know what you’re going to get and he improves every single day, too.”

Didn't he give a up a football scholarship as QB from Marshall to play basketball for Oklahoma State before Travis pulled the offer? I think he is now headed to Evansville to play basketball.
