What is the outlook for after-Christmas tournaments? There are several very strong events in the Bluegrass, plus a number of tough ones outside our borders in which Kentucky schools are competing. Let's get some pre-tourney news AND updates along the way on this post, please.

The first annual State Farm Holiday Classic hosted by the Conner Lady Cougars begins on Tuesday and will finish on Friday this week. Hope to see a lot of the NKY girls hoop fans out to support the tournament.

The Gateway Classic in Mt. Sterling at Montgomery County High School should be a good one featuring four of last year's Sweet Sixteen teams along with several of the top ranked teams so far this season.

 

Wednesday's open round games are as follows:

 

South Oldham vs. Montgomery County 2:00 PM

 

Marshall County vs. Boone County 4:00 PM

 

Madison Central vs. Walton Verona 5:30 PM

 

Clay County vs. Bryan Station 7:30 PM

 

First round winners will continue in the winner's bracket and losers in the losers bracket until eight spots are determined.
