Covington Catholic 62 Conner 52

It is exactly what Conner needs to see. Carter can be a key for this team and letting his teammates know they're not going to get pushed around IS a sign of leadership. In addition, if I were his coach I would be thrilled to see that fire come to the surface even if it cost me 2 points in ONE GAME. It's two games in a row that he has played physical basketball. Love it.

This is actually the second time that Byrns has drawn a technical foul for pushing someone after the whistle. I'm curious if your feelings would change if one of these times it costs Conner the basketball game? Again, I'm all for intensity and toughness, but I think there are better ways to display it than taking cheap shots during a dead ball.

It will concern me when Conner makes not other mistakes during the game that costs them two points. How is this any different than losing your man for an easy bucket or making a stupid pass to the wing that is stolen and taken in for a easy 2?

THe difference I see is that another player isn't getting illegaly shoved in the chest in one situation. I am all for seeing Carter play with more fire and intensity. He is a great player and in my opinion should of been on the floor more last year, but there are better ways to get recognized and be a leader. I am not sure you want to put I led the team in technicals on your resume.

No ofense Clyde. I love the intense style of play. Bobby Stauffer is one of my favorites, but you have to be able to flip the switch. Draw the foul, don't get the foul.

Moved here from St Anthony's in NJ when he dad replaced Coach L.

No offense to any kid in NKY, but everyone is going to seem like a 3rd and 4th grader when you are a season removed from playing against guys like Kidd-Gilchrist...and BEATING them.

I dont think he was playing against anyone but the St. Pat JV last year but I would definitely say he likely faced much better talent than what NKY has to offer. There is something to be said for kids playing against great competition across the country in AAU as well.

I'm sure he didn't, but everday he practiced against St.Anthony's Starting 5. I would say that Dixie, NewCath, or Holmes are not going to be intimidating to play against in the least bit.

True Story !!! Never thought of it that way. Trust me, the kid sounds like the real deal. Looking forward to seeing him on Jan 4th.

Really solid player.

Agree, Conner definitely has other problems that need to be addressed. The first of which is taking care of the basketball. However, I don't see how you can condone repeated meltdowns that hurt your team when it's something that can be controlled, especially by a senior. Here's hoping that Carter can continue to play physical and intense and be a senior leader as he did vs CCH, and to have some discipline when it comes to drawing the T's. Surely, we can agree on that!
