Covington Catholic 50 Simon Kenton 32 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

The Freshmen Colonels of CovCath defeated the Simon Kenton Pioneers Freshmen by a score of 50-32 behind Matt Shumate who scored 13 points tonight.

The young Colonels improve their record to 4-0 with this victory. (Scott, LexCath, St. Henry and now Simon Kenton)

The young Colonels were down after the 1st quarter by a score of 10/8 behind some fine offense by the SK #31 who scored 6 pints in the 1st quarter.

The CovCath team came back strong in the 2nd quarter to score 13 to take a 21/15 half time lead behind Shumate 8 points.

From then on it was all CovCath as the Colonels scored 15 points in the 3rd quarter compared to 6 by SK to lead by 15 36/21.

The fourth quarter SK tried to come back behind the shooting of their #42 and did score 11 but CovCath scored 14 behind a host of CovCath shooters.

CovCath scoring:

Shumate 13

Schuh Bo 10

Schuh Joe 8

Ruwe 4

Galvin 4

Murrer 4

Romes 3

Fortsch 2

Lyons 2

The CovCath Freshmen next play Boone County @ CovCath this Saturday Dec 10th at 3pm

Not sure how good SK is but from what I have heard the Bright twins are not on the team they are both close to being 6'5.

The Bright boys are 6' 3". Not sure they would have made a difference in the game much. Word on the street has them transferring to Beechwood after the first of the year.

Thats not a suprise to me.

Because transferring to Beechwood worked out well for the last SK star to try it.

If they never played a game they should be elgible immediately, correct???

Yes.

Didnt one of them play freshman football this year?

I think one did, and the other one didnt because he had shoulder surgery, I could be wrong. Like I said either way not a suprise to me I wish them both the best, they are both good kids.

If so, that could be a problem!!!!!!

Still not a problem. No rule that says you can't play a sport at your new school. I think the only rule is you can't play the same sport at 2 schools in the same season.

I am pretty sure the transfer/eligibility rule only applies if you played VARSITY. If you have not played in a VARSITY game, you are eligible to play immediately at your new school.

Both played freshmen ball this year, one had surgery the week after football was over, not sure of the exact ailment, but all indications are that he will be released for full participation in a couple of weeks.
