Reyes to Marlins

Featured Replies

Reyes has been hurt basically one season out of the past 7. I'm not sure I'd call the 'injury prone'

^ Average of 98 games the last 3 years. Granted 2 of those years he was over 120. I wouldn't put that label on him yet but I would be a little concerned. I love that a team other than the Yanks or Red Sox got a big name player. Now I hope they get Pujols too. Get him out of the NL Central.

He's averaged 132.57 games the last 7 years. You can't expect a guy to play 160+ games per season anymore. 140 is a realistic number. He's been a few games short of that the past 2 years. Everybody get's banged up...it's the nature of the game. The 'injury prone' label isn't justified yet.

Jonah Keri's take on it. Here is my favorite part:

If the Marlins stop with Heath Bell and Jose Reyes, they've ignited some new interest in the team and set themselves up to draw fans to the new park — a noble goal. Sign Pujols and trade for a solid starter, and October baseball becomes not possible, but even likely. Kudos to the Marlins for putting themselves in position to make that happen, and for silencing idiots like me who thought all their supposed courting of free agents was just an attempt to draw interest in the team and its stadium drive. They're trying to win. This is a really good thing.

Yep, I'm kind of riding a high right now! :D

I'd say so. Lot different going from an owner who doesn't want to pay for good players (even when they already have them) to an owner who doesn't care to throw the cash.

It's the same owner...different circumstances.
