I was suprised to not see any TX or FL teams on the list. However, the reasons for that is probably what you already mentioned.

 

Plus many of the eastern teams started playing in the late 1800s and Texas was just coming out of the “gun-slinger” days back then.

There has to be some reason why there are not more eastern seaboard teams.
