I'd like to chime in with my appreciation for the countless hours that Mark Wehry has tirelessly donated of his time towards bringing the excitement of high school sports into all of our homes with the hundreds of broadcasts over the last 8 years. His efforts along with Dave Schabel have touched the lives of many on so many levels that I'd be hard pressed to list them all here. Just how many hundreds of athletes have had the joy of being able to go back and listen to the archives of some of their most memorable moments on the court or field that in the past might've soon gone forgotten but by a few? How many parents, friends, relatives, and alumni, locally or out of town for CovCath or their opponents have had the pleasure of hearing one of their own named on the air as they were hitting a big 3 in a game, slugging a home run, or scoring a big touchdown? He's even called Tennis matches, Track Meets, Swimming Meets, Volleyball games, and Soccer games. His broadcasts has taken what is already tremendously exciting about high school sports and made them all that much more exciting. I know that personally on many snowy cold nights I've had the privilege of staying in my warm home to avoid my lazy self from braving the elements, while you can no doubt rely on Mark to be bringing the action no matter what the weather has in store. What boggles my mind is that after all these years there still aren't too many schools, if any, that are taking Mark's lead and providing this fantastic service for their teams, families, alumni etc... I think that there speaks volumes of the dedication that it takes to consistently bring this wonderful service as Mark has. I have to believe that after all of this time CovCath has to be planning some sort of award of recognition & appreciation for all of the time Mark has volunteered with his efforts. If they aren't, I think that they really should be. It takes a special kind of person to do what Mark is doing, and you're just not going to find such a person to rely on for such a job everyday. Good job Mark! Thank you for your services and keep up the great work! You make all of the Northern Kentucky area proud and you make it fun to stay apart of all the action! :thumb:

I speak for thousands when I say man oh man how I'd love to go back and listen to Dale and Hardy occasionally mention my name!

I'd like to add my congratulations to Mark and Kevin Connor for doing the game for the Oyler kids!!!!

 

They say that character is how you act and behave when no one is watching. I'd say that extends to a lot of areas, such as mentoring a young man who surely appreciates his interest, and broadcasting games just for the heck of it, even though a huge listening audience isn't tuned in. Were it not for this thread none of us would have known, and Mark would simply gone about the business of being Mark without the cudos.

 

Some of our most fun broadcasts are of grade school teams playing in the finals of a tournament, or in the diocesan championship games, or of our junior high football Colts. I always get a kick out of one of those broadcasts which have 15 live listeners, but 115 listen to the replay.

 

Keep up the good work Mark Whery. We may have started the internet broadcasting gig, but you've taken it to a new level!

Great job by Mark. I can only say that I have listened to him once on the radio during a football game. The only thing I can say is the guy knows his stuff and he's not afraid to give credit when credit is due, even if its not for his home team, and he's also not afraid to offer up constructive critisim of his home team. Thats what good radior guys do, a lost art imo. Keep up the great work CovCathRadio. :thumb:
