Oral commitment by big Sam Gardner to Michigan State this weekend on his official visit. I personally look for big Sam to outgrow the tight end position and be moved inside. I know that is not what he wants to hear, but if you are 6'6"/255 and 17 years old, how big an ole boy are you going to grow up to be?

I also hear that another Lexington future tight end has orally commited to Louisville. Pete Nochta, who was Tates Creek's quarterback, has given Louisville his honor. Pete is 6'6"/220 and has a world of growth potential. Looks like a redshirt, hit the weights hard, and learn a new position situation.

I was hoping the Cats would give him a look. I think he's going to develope into a nice player. He could turn into a nice sized TE.

UK gave him a look and had him on their radar. They simply didn't have enough scholarships.

I think he would have picked UK if they hadn't of picked up 2 TE commitments early.

:laugh: sam wont grow into a o-linemen he is way to athletic to be moved to that position. Sam has talked to the coaches at Mich. St. and they said they aren't looking for sam to move anywhere, they just want him to play tight end. They also said that he has a great chance of playing next year as the number 2 guy, so that comment is out of the question.

For what it is worth, about a half dozen years ago, the Iowa Hawkeyes had a very athletic tight end they decided to move inside. This player was a 6'6"/250 tight end in high school. He was ready to quit the Iowa team, but decided to stick it out. It kind of worked out for him, since he was the second pick in the NFL draft by the Oakland Raiders. His name is Robert Gallery. NFL player.....big, big bucks.
