St. Xavier's Specht will coach U.S. in International Bowl

Quite an honor!

St. Xavier (Cincinnati) football coach Steve Specht will be announced Tuesday morning as the head football coach of the 2012 U.S. Under-19 national team

Congratulations to him and the Bomber community. Great honor for him and the school.

I however still do not understand people on the Ohio board. They are bashing him for being the USA coach. One person going as far as to say he would root against Team USA. I do not get it. This should be a great thing for Ohio football as a whole, but it seems some people just can't take off their blinders.

Congrats! A well deserved coach!

So there are enough countries with decent American football teams to have a tourney?

I know that Mexico has a lot of leagues. When I lived in Merida, the state of Yucatan had youth leagues through college aged. I was invited to play in a "Friendly," w/ a group of adults that were playing in an adult league. My heart said yes, my shoulder said no, and my shoulder won out. I would have loved to play though. I also played a football game in Paris, France during spring break of my Frosh year at Hanover. Our football is more popular than many believe. That said, internationally it is still where basketball was during the 1956 Olympics, an American sport that we will dominate.
