Lincoln County 49 Pulaski County 41

Wow. I wouldn't have thought Lincoln could score 49 points on a empty field. This is a good win for the Patriots. Their record is a little deceiving - they played a good half against Anderson, and three good games against Washington, Garrard and Wayne. Only seemed like a matter of time before they got over the hump.

Dion Shannon had 5 touchdowns, including 2 kickoff returns.

This was a district win for Lincoln, too. With the attrition at Southwestern, the struggles at Madison Southern, and the up-and-down nature of North Laurel and South Laurel, Lincoln might have a chance to put a little run together.

One win does not a season make. However, Lincoln County could make a run at the district. Lincoln had the strongest out-of-district schedule (opponents were 18-4) coming into this game. With a less aggressive scheduling (all five non-district opponents are ranked in BGP Top Ten), Lincoln could have had a better record, but would they have been better prepared for district play?

I've said all along that Lincoln plays hard and they have good schemes. They have good size but not much speed and quickness. Those deficiencies hurt them against their non-district opponents, but as you said, those are things that their other district opponents also lack. This is an encouraging result and it could be an interesting district race.
