August 27, 200620 yr Goherd96 is correct in regard to Russell. It is, without doubt, the premier public school system in the 16th Region and, most likely, east of Lexington. He is also correct in that property owners in Russell pay a premium in school taxes. Ashland property owners do the same. The Raceland-Worthington system does a good job. This, without a doubt, is a debate that if started would probably never end. But I guess its not a crime to state an opinion as a fact. :lol:

I am much more impressed by Governor's Scholars, Governor's Cup state titles, significant scholarships, and matters of that sort. I'll take Russell. In re: T-CAT4LIFE Surely you are not implying that Ashland has superior academics to Russell. That would not be an opinion. That would be a travesty.

Pikeville doesn't "teach the test," and excels bigtime in the other areas you mention. Russell has to at least get in the same league with Pikeville with test scores before we can even argue which school system is better.

You couldn't be more wrong. Pikeville has won the Governor's Cup more than once, and always does very well. Also has plenty of Governor's scholars over the years, sent the highest percentage of graduates to college of just about anywhere, and the list of scholarships given out to Pikeville graduates is a mile long every year. It's extrememly common knowledge that Pikeville Ind. is a top academic district in the state, and has been for many years. Bigger schools have an advantage in academic competitions, where Pikeville still excels. They don't have an advantage with the test scores. Again, Russell not in Pikeville's league there. Get your scores up!!! I'm out, not arguing with you anymore.
