But the Hitmen take (or I assume they take) a 11-7 lead after 4 1/2 innings and the St. Louis team coming to bat.

St. Louis scores three runs but get a runner thrown out at the plate to end the inning on a nice 8-2 play.

 

After 4 complete it's the Hitmen 11 St. Louis 10. (I think)

Hitmen score a run to make it 12-10 with the team from St. Louis coming to bat in the bottom of the 5th.

St. Louis scores two runs to tie the game in their half of the 5th.

 

Hitmen coming to bat in the top of the sixth with the score knotted 12 all.

Lefty Eckerle hits a single up the middle to knock in a run, making it 13-12 Hitmen in the top of the sixth.

The St. Louis teams scores a run to tie the game and with only (1) out and a man on 2nd the Hitmen are in a world of hurt.

#2 is batting for St. Louis and the NKy team is walking the batter.

So now there are two on (1st and 2nd) and only 1 out and #11 at bat

 

#11 hits into a FC and so with (2) outs runners are on 1st and 3rd.

 

#12 Walks to load the bases.

 

#4 At Bat and with the count full he hits a shot in the hole between the 3rd baseman and SS to win the game for the team from St. Louis 14-13.

The kids I think are maybe fifth or sixth graders top, playing in Cooperstown, New York, I am sure nerves had a play in this game for both teams.

 

Both teams kids, will only get better as they get older.

 

Back in the day, it would have only been a dream, to be able to do what these kids are doing at the moment.

 

Wining or losing? Really, does it matter? Just playing Baseball for the pure fun and excitement in Cooperstown NY and visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame! As the commercial says "Life can't get much better" for a bunch of kids!:thumb:

Great experience for the players and their families and coaches. My son loved it, as did I.

Before you give all of the credit to the CovCath influence the Hitmen organization has had some very successful teams at these age groups using these same philosophies. Contrary to popular belief (of some) this style of baseball was not invented in Park Hills.

I think one or two posters on here used to have some Hitmen with boys that just graduated. Good team as I recall.
