Northern Kentucky Hitmen knock off a team from Oak Brook Illinois 7-2

 

Gunnar Schuh, future CovCath student, complete game, 3 hitter.

 

Jack Simkonis and Hunter Ziegelmeyer, both future CovCath students, collected 2 hits each .

 

Lefty Eckerle another future CovCath student, was 2-3 with a home run and 3 rbi's.

 

The NKy Hitmen take on North Florida Hurricanes tonight at 7pm.

 

Now that is indeed a vacation of a lifetime and an outstanding history lesson in the game we all love!

I would like to add that my son played in that tournament when he was 12 years old. Going to Cooperstown and that tournament was one of the most fun baseball trips that our family has taken.

Game is on live and the score is 0-0 as the Hitmen come to bat in the top of the second!

You can tell this is a team that the kids will be going to CovCath as twice with runners on 1st and 3rd the Hitmen have tried to bunt but the other team pitcher is wild and they didn't get a chance to lay it down.

Again with men in 1st and 3rd they try to bunt! I am loving it!

 

5-0 and the kids from NKy are still batting in the top of the 2nd

The St. Louis score 2 runs so I believe the score is after two complete innings:

You can tell this is a team that the kids will be going to CovCath as twice with runners on 1st and 3rd the Hitmen have tried to bunt but the other team pitcher is wild and they didn't get a chance to lay it down.

 

Before you give all of the credit to the CovCath influence the Hitmen organization has had some very successful teams at these age groups using these same philosophies. Contrary to popular belief (of some) this style of baseball was not invented in Park Hills.

NKy kid goes yard......

The NKy kids score two runs in the top of the 3rd to make the score (I believe) 7-2 with the St. Louis team coming to bat in the bottom of the 3rd.

 

There is no sound and the online scoreboard is not working, so that is why I am saying I believe the score and inning is!

3 run dingier for the St. Louis team to make the score now 7-6 with the St. Louis team still at bat!

The Hitmen change pitches and I believe Lefty (Ryan) Eckerle is on the hump!

St. Louis score another run to tie the game in the bottom of the third.

 

Hitmen now coming up in the top of the 4th.

The Hitmen at bat and get a single, single, a bunt single and then #10 goes yard for a Grand Slam HR making it 11-7 NKy Hitmen and the kids from NKy are still at bat.
