They wern't overlooking anyone...just a very emotinal night. We started the 5 seniors that do not start and got behind by double digets. Didn't play well second quarter, but did a much better job on the defensive end the second half. Which then sparked the offence.

 

Agree on Robbie, he is too unselfish. Wants to lead in assists. Very humble young man.

 

Agreed that they were not overlooking Franklin Co. Clark knows they will get everyone's best shot, never any time to overlook anyone this season. Also, senior night, lots of distractions, lots of emotions, extremely difficult to get focused on the game.

With what they let Rogers get away with last night it's a wonder he isn't the all time leading scorer.

 

With the muggings GRC took under the boards I would say both teams probably took advantage of the silent whistles. GRC has been penalized in a lot of games because of thier size and strength working the boards on both ends of the floor.

Not sure which game you were at, but GRC got away with murder, especially in the 2nd half. Rogers, Zollo and Purvis had a combined 4 fouls for the game. Rogers should have had that many by himself in the 1st half. GRC had only 10 fouls called on them total for the game.

 

GRC shot 32 free throws, compared to 9 for Franklin County.

Come on now Your Daddy you know all those calls were legit. Heaven forbid 6'4" Will Bell block out or block anyone over 6'6" shot. You just didn't have the right "pants" on to see the obvious great officiating.

FC just got out rebounded in the 2nd half. GRC had 22 points on putbacks and gimme rebounds.

 

Freethrow advantage came (once again) from rebounding and drives into the baskets.

I agree on the rebounding, and on paper GRC should outrebound a team like FC by the above margin every night. After all FC was guarding GRC's big men with guards. As I posted earlier FC was outmatched, but should be proud of their effort and will be well prepared for district having played elite competition. With regard to the refs, looked to me like Roger's fouled the much quicker Timmons by holding him when he drove to the basket several times. I'm not sure he picked up one foul in the first half. In any event the better team won the game.

 

GRC's coaches need to turn Robbie Stenzel loose. I think GRC will go as far as Stenzel takes them (possibly a state championship). When he creates it opens things up for the bigs down low. Looks to me like the coaches may be holding him back a bit.

Not odd, if you knew Robbie you would know what we are talking about. His Freshman and sophomore year he was relied more on to score. The last two years with all the talent we have the scoring is more distrubuted.

 

Someone asked him last night after the game how many points he had....I knew the answer he would give...told them he didn't know, but would have made more assists if they had made the basket. He can take over a game if he needs to, but he just wants to win.

Basketball: Clark rallies past Franklin County in home finale

 

The Cards went on a 21-0 run to open the third quarter, turning the 14-point deficit into a 45-38 advantage. Overall, Clark outscored the guests 26-4 in the third frame to set the tone for the remainder of the contest. The Flyers managed just seven field goals in the second half.

 

 

“Until we pulled (our) guys late, we had only given up seven (points) in the entire half,” Humphrey said.

 

“That’s saying something, because Franklin County was extremely disciplined in their (half-court) offense and the deal of it was, we had all five of them guarded. It wasn’t just one or two (players) and (the defensive effort) is something we can build on going into the postseason.”
