WVFrank
Sydney Moss was awarded a Republic Bank Holiday Classic All-Tournament berth after her fine performance against Marion County. She went to the lockerroom and gave that plaque to senior guard Stacie Shrout who absolutely didn't want it. Moss' explanation? "Stacie's a senior and she deserves the award more than I do. She played great. Shoot, I didn't even play the first game!" Shrout was forced into the role of Boone's primary ball handler after starting point guard Jessica Jones was lost to a concussion during the first game of the tournament. Stacie performed admirably in the expanded role and still continued to hit big, timely 3's for Boone County during the tournament. It will be interesting to see Stacie try to give the award back and Sydney continue to insist she deserves it! I debated telling this story but sometimes other things are more important than stats and awards!

coachpendleton
That's what gets left out a lot in girls athletics - the unselfish, team-oriented nature of female athletes. Congrats to Sydney and her team - they looked great in the tournament.
