October 10, 201015 yr Author Miami gets the stop they need, an INT at their own 2. Ponder throws into triple coverage, and it was a play that never had a chance whatsoever.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Florida State starting to move down a very slippery slope. The 'Canes are starting to move the ball very well, and have moved into the red zone again with 5:14 left in the third quarter.
October 10, 201015 yr Author FSU manages to hold Miami to a field goal, and it is now 31-17 with just under 5 left in the third. But Miami is now within 2 TDs.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Florida State with another nice return that comes to nothing, and FSU punts down to the Miami 9. Miami has outgained Florida State tonight, but their field position has been horrendous. The FSU defense needs to get a stop here.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Fourth quarter, third down for the 'Noles coming up. They've gotta start giving the defense a breather.
October 10, 201015 yr Author FSU doesn't convert, and they give the ball back, albeit after a superb 54 yard punt. Miami starts from inside their own 20 yet again.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Miami and Florida State have started trading three and outs, which of course benefits Florida State. Miami had a very catchable ball for the first down that was dropped. Add to that a so-so punt that gives Florida State the ball on their own 35. Under 14 minutes left in the game, still 31-17.
October 10, 201015 yr Author This game is killing me. So disappointing. Ain't over yet. If Florida State doesn't find their offense again, this is far from over. Miami has put together a couple of quick drives tonight.
October 10, 201015 yr I would not have thought it would have been Miami's defense that beat them tonight. Give FSU credit though they have attacked Miami where they are vulnerable, the LBs.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Ponder picks up Florida State's first 1st down in what feels like forever.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Big drive so far, picking up first downs on third downs. Obviously you'll take first downs any time you get them, but it really helps kill the clock to use three downs before doing it.
October 10, 201015 yr Author Wow, Thompson converts a third and 12, bouncing off several tackles to do so. This drive might win the game for FSU if they can finish with a score.
October 10, 201015 yr Author That oughtta do it. 18 yard TD pass to Rodney Smith, a Miami native. Nice fade route to a 6'6" receiver. That makes it 38-17 with 7:39 left. FSU's defense got a couple of key holds on Miami until the offense finally got going again, and FSU is going to take this one down barring a miracle.
