Knox Central 28 Rockcastle County 8

Featured Replies

Good effort for Rockcastle. KC won this one mostly thru the air. Jeffrey Canady had 10 catches for 104, 6 rushes for 54. Barger was 16-26 for just under 200 yards.

I will be the first to eat crow. Thought KC would win by a larger margin. Good luck to both teams.

No reason to eat anything, it's a 3 td win. Rockcastle may not be as good as years past, but they're not a bad team.

KC was due for a little let down after the game last week.

Give Rock their due. They played hard. I'm told they moved some younger players into the starting lineup and they did quite well. Also, KC was working on a few new wrinkles to get the offense to evolve for the playoffs. Threw the ball 26 times and gave Canady 6 carries from the backfield.

I think that is what they need to to get ready for the playoffs smart move IMO.

Exactly what I predicted a Knox Central win :) Actually I thought Rock would pull the upset. Sounds like they played hard though. Way to play hard Rock. Keep your heads up boys. Congrats Knox! No doubt you are a good football team who will make plenty of noise in the playoffs.

Your reasoning was sound but I thought Knox was strong enough to overcome a minor letdown. Have you seen either or both of these teams this season?

Rock played a freshmen and 3 sophomores on the line who had not been starting. I thought they played exceptionally well because Knox had one of the best lines I have seen in the last few years and Rock held their own at the line of scrimmage most of the night. # 76 is a awesome lineman.

A lot of teams have this same issue this part of the season. Knox earned a great win over a Rock team who showed good effort.

I saw Knox the first game against Clay. Too early for me to really tell how good they were going to be, however, it was clear they had size, depth and talent. Knox will win out and have a rematch with the Bobcats from the South where I think Bell will win another tight hard fought win. KC has earned their respect in my book.

In light of what both Clay and Knox have done since, I'm still puzzled by that 9-6 score. Just first game jitters or not enough time to implement enough of their offense. Both have sure shown the ability to put up points in a hurry since.

Conj: to Coach Mills and the Knox Central Players. #2 in the Dist is not bad, just keep working and getting better each week and see what happend down the road.

I live in Rockcastle Co. now and hear all kinds of stuff come out about this football team. Will the youth of this football team be enough for Coach Parkey to keep his job? I know the natives are restless in Mt. Vernon, but he seems to be a decent coach. Any word?

My kids go to Rockcastle and play football. I heard all kinds of things about the coaching staff there as the kids were coming up through grade school and even middle school. I heard some very very bad rumors about the program and some of the coaches there. I actually sat out there the first summer my oldest one started playing and kept the steely eyeball on most all of the goings on. I cannot say hardly anything bad about any of the varsity coaching staff for Rockcastle. Of course, I haven't agreed with every play or plan they have implemented since I've been associated with them, but, these guys are top drawer in my opinion. Nobody agrees with anyone on everything they do...but these guys are class acts, from the tough old varsity....been around coaching for more than 25 years assistant coach, to the quiet hard working very knowledgable head coach. I like them all pretty well and they have been good to my kids and helped them to love the sport of football. I know that if the wins don't come around more in the next year and a half, there will be a hot coaching seat in there and that's a shame. I don't have any idea who would be better than the current staff they have in place as a coaching change would disrupt continuity of the program and most likely would make things much worse before possibly not getting any better. Besides, like I said, these guys are knowledgeable, hard working, home grown, and they have a lot of pride in their home program. The "natives" might need to hold thier tongues because they don't know what the situation is that this coaching staff is having to work with. Give them a little more time, they have only four seniors on this team and next year they will be senior heavy with a pretty good supporting cast as the youth gets to play some varsity this year. These kids are not huge like some of the past Rockcastle teams. The biggest lineman is a 250 pound sophomore who just got the nod to start three games ago. The next largest starter is a 245 pound freshman who has about the same varsity experience. Parkey and staff are doing the best they possibly can in my honest opinion and need a little more time before the natives skin 'em and put 'em on a spit.
