Top Offensive Linemen in Kentucky

Featured Replies

Who are some of the top Offensive Linemen in the state this year? I think West from LCA is defiantly one, if not the best, linemen in the state. Who else is at the top with him?

Ryan Hahn from Highlands is the only returning starter on the o-line, he has been moved to center this year. In the Withrow game Ryan absolutely handled his assignments and delivered several pancake blocks. He has adjusted well moving to center and I'm surprised we haven't heard more about him to date???

I think Ian Johnson #66 6'3 245 pounds from Dixie is a good one. NCC has 2 good linemen Jake Giesler #74 6'7 245 pounds and Jack Gruenschlaeger #78 6'10 330 pounds.

Tim Haag Manual High School, 6ft3, 275, Center. Davis Brown , 3 year starter, Danville High School,6 ft1, 270 Offensive Guard

Agreed whole heartedly. Ryan has done an outstanding job in every game he's played this year. I've spent a lot of time watching the O line this year, and he's just been superb. Displays absolutely fantastic technique every play. He's been a greater leader also. He's really help bring on Highlands O line that frankly was very green and inexperienced at the beginning of the year.

As for the lack of attention he's garnered, I've wondered about that myself. Only reasons I can come up with are:

1. "Highlands O line attention fatigue" syndrome. Over the last several years, we've been bombarded with posts, quotes from opposing coaches, etc. about Highlands O line. Frankly all the attention given to Grubbs, Combs and Schlosser last year caused Ryan to not receive the attention he earned last year. As a result, he came into this year without much preseason hype. Opposing defensive coaches have had to have noticed the great job he is doing, and hopefully the media will figure it out. Since Ryan doesn't have the height necessary to attract D-1 attention, I'm not sure the media will figure out just how good of a football player he is, but hopefully they will.

and,

2. Again, his lack of size. Because D-1 coaches are enamored with size, fans and media types are also and often equate D-1 interest as being the best high school O linemen, which is a complete falsehood.

Knowing Ryan, I'm quite confident in saying he couldn't care less about getting attention and accolades. He just wants the Birds to keep winning. Very, very fine player and even a better young man.

If you have not seen Trevan Brown from Boone County, you are missing one of the the better linemen in Ky. He has been overpowering D-linemen across from him and making some nasty downfield blocks. Even though he's labeled as a tight end, with the Rebels, that's nothing more than a glorified name for an extra offensive tackle. Chris Fookes with the Rebels, is another offensive linemen that is performing very well and should not be overlooked also.
