Monroe County 27 Barren 6

Featured Replies

My observations,

-Very sloppy game by the Falcons (both teams really), far too many turnovers and missed opportunities.

-Barren’s size did not prove to be a factor, our line did a great job on offense and defense, and this was one thing I was very pleased with.

-One positive thing that has come from our offensive struggles has been the growth of our defense, if you would have told me that after 4 games our defense would have only given up 20 pts I would not have believed it.

-Still not getting enough production at TB, Kendall rushed 12 times for 32yards that’s 2.6 yards per carry, the rest of the team rushed 26 times for 206 yards, that’s 7.9 per carry. That’s a growing problem that IMO needs to be addressed. Kendall is great athlete but he’s not hitting the hole like the gazelle he once was.

-At this point we should be 4-0 and we are, we haven’t been as impressive as I think we should have been, but it’s nice to able to complain and still be 4-0. Now it’s time to get this thing rolling before district play and start playing to our potential…

This win was ugly but still a win...These boys have set the bar so high in Monroe County that even after a 27-6 win we complain! I can say this with total confidence that Shirley was missed tonight, he brings another level to the backfield as a sophmore. Hopefully we will see more of him in the backfield. If the boys stay healthy District is looking pretty good from where we sit....on the 50!!!!!!!!:thumb:

What about moving Kendall to the slot or using him like they did Wilson last year? Can he catch it?

Yes he can catch. He already has two interceptions and a huge backside screen for a long TD run against Adair. When he is in the open field he is awesome, just doesn't have the desire to take the hit on. I can't say that I blame him, he is a buck 45 soaking wet! If he turns the corner he is very dangerous, but he seems to be going down by one hit, and usually slowing down and taking some serious leg shots. He never gets hurt just pops up and jogs back to the huddle. As far as defense he is one of the best safetys I have seen play in a long time. He is always in the right place at the right time. His closing speed on plays is terrific. He throws explosive hits on the defensive side of the ball, so I can't understand the running?

I'd put him in the slot and spread the field more with him. Maybe use him on reverses to run some. It would make them a little harder to prep for IMO.

I absolutely agree! They have a cubbord full of really good backs. Wilson, Vickery, Shirley, London, Yokley, and even Hodges. You can put any two or three of these in almost any combo and have pretty good success.

I am sure coach Petett will do what is best for the team. He's only won about 28 games the last two and half seasons

I don't think anyone questions that...

BTW, welcome to the site.

Nobody is questioning coach P. He will go down in school history as the best we have had here ever IMO. I know John well and what he is doing is the best interest of the ball club in his opinion. His record is showing that maybe he is very understanding of what and when his players are capable...remember this is a constructive site that guys like me can voice my opinion and receive critcizm from other football hounds!! I love this program and would do anything in my power for it, just somtimes an outside eye can see things others can't see from their view point.....all in all I am not the coach, nor will I ever be. I am just the above average Falcon Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
