jbwill2
Wow... I would have thought this game would have been closer. It sounds likes Eastern has a pretty good team this year.

ColonelMike
How did UK signee Jon Davis do? Good first half (2 TDs, both from 20+ yards); non-existent in the second half. Game was a tale of two halves. Oldham had -3 yards of total offense in the first half, and Eastern ran the ball well in staking out a 13-0 halftime lead. The second half was almost a complete stalemate, as both teams had just 70-80 yards of offense in the second half. Oldham had two promising drives end inside the Eagle 27; Eastern got one drive and punched an insurance TD in with about 4 1/2 minutes to play for the 20-0 final. Eastern did a great job of forcing Oldham to the air - Oldham came into the game averaging 160 yards rushing per game and finished with 31 carries for ONE net yard. Oldham didn't really start to capitalize through the air until the second half, but never really got it going. Eagles were simply too fast to the ball. In fairness, Oldham's defense put on a pretty good show, too; the Eagles passing game never got anything going as Oldham got good pressure on the QB and the secondary put on a show with hard hits. In the end, though, the Eagles got their running game going enough to overcome their passing deficiencies, whereas Oldham's passing game never quite made up for its lack of a good running game. Kudos to the Eagles and best of luck down the road! Oldham County - learn from your challenges against 6A teams (Conner, Eastern, and Scott County next week) and improve so you can contend in 5A! Next week is a whole new game!
