Walton-Verona 2010

Featured Replies

What does Walton-Verona need to do to improve in 2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I look for a better year for the Bearcats. They have most of their starters back and had another year of varsity football.

It's a big year for the Bearcats, as they have a shot at hosting a playoff game this season. Everyone not named Beechwood is playing for second in the district, but with Bellevue and Dayton both losing a lot from last season, I could easily see Walton or Brossart as the number two seed this postseason.

That would be nice to see. Walton will play this season under the lights at home.:dancingpa

The seniors need to step up and lead this team! They are very capable of doing this. This will be their second season of district play so they know what is ahead of them and what they need to do.

Agree with that ! Lights are up ? I look for some break out games from many of these boys , seniors and the classes below.

Talked with their OC this weekend at a picnic in Ft. Thomas and from what he said, things will be exciting down in Walton this year.

Maybe a little Highlands magic will rub off!:D

Any word on "county fairs" down in Verona? Seems like some mention from another thread is something is happening in Verona. Don't ask, cause I really don't know what a "county fair" is. Maybe somebody can enlighten.

County Fair=misery. I'm sure every coach has their version of it. 4 stations. One on each sideline at the 50, one in each endzone. Each station does some type of football drill. i.e. bearcraw, backpeddle, etc. Team is divided up into 4 groups and start at seperate stations. Once each group goes through all 4 stations, round 1 is done. The next round each station does a different drill, once each group goes through all 4 stations round 2 is done. So on, and so on. Now if any one player is not busting it inbetween stations or during stations then coach blows what is called the "blank(bad word ending in T) whistle" then u start from scratch. We did 4 rounds every morning but if we did not bust our buts coach would blow that whistle and we'd end up doing 8. It seemed like he liked to blow it during the last round(4) alot!
