These boys play very very good competition. You have a very good question though, but I think the mentality is that they play more on the 16-u teams than the 17 or 18-u teams. That would be my guess. Laumann was 15 on the team last year, he is a young senior.

 

With 20 players on their roster, there won't be a whole lot of playing time going around... even if they do play 50 games.

U-16 kids still maturing to play some College kids.

 

The reason for carry so players is easy. Family vacation, football/basketball practice, injuries, and kids leaving in the middle of the year. It happens!

 

Sure it would be great to only have 14 or 15 players on a team but the reality is, something always happens and if they follow Walt and his U-18 style (and I am sure they do) the majority of the kids will play in every game.

 

The KC coaches really don't care about W's/L's but do care about developing players and getting them College Scholarships. Walt does an outstanding job of getting College and Pro scouts at his game and they play in some of the better out of town baseball summer tourneys in the USA.

By far and awar Walt's best trait. I do think for all his teams they should always try to win. That I don't care line is an excuse for not winning. No reason in my mind with all that talent why they can't win and get the scholarships.

It was played over 2 days due to rain. I believe Ritter (HC) started and went to the rain delay. I think it was in the fifth. I think Hensley (Ryle) may have finished it. I do not remember if someone pitched between them.

I think the u-16's are going to a couple u-18 tourneys this year with the older Colonels.
