An outstanding pitching performance by David Brueggman who holds Conner to 0 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and not walking a single batter. He did HBP one batter.

What was even more amazing was David did all this on 68 pitches. Boy's and Girls that less than 10 pitches an inning.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly plus Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game: Grubers Grill star of the game: and stats and such after I eat some dinner!

The Good: David Brueggman. Not much more can I say, than what I said about him to open up this thread. Besides throwing only 68 pitches he got the Conner hitters to fly out 11 times to his fielders. Great pitching David

The Bad and The Ugly: Not a single error in this game by CovCath and they played very smart baseball. If there is anything to complain about, it is leaving 8 men on base.

Pee Wee's Place Offensive play of the game: CovCath bottom of the 5th. Score 0-0 and Siemer leads off with a hit to the third baseman who earns himself a E-5. Man on first no outs. After a WP which sends Siemer to second, Warning draws a walk on a 3-2 count, so with no outs men are now on 1st and 2nd. Klein up and the Conner Catcher gives up a PB which moves the CovCath runner to 2nd and 3rd, no outs. Klein then hit a shot to deep CF and Siemer comes home with the 1st CovCath run and Warning tags up at second and moves to 3rd on the same play. Klein gets a RBI on a U-8 SF. Lankheit is up and on a 1-2 count Jake hits a single to score Warning from second base for the second CovCath run. After the end of five innings

CovCath 2- Conner 0

BAWAC Inc. Defensive play of the game: Got to give the Conner second baseman this nod. CovCath bottom of the 4th and with one out Martin hits a Texas League single just fair down the right field line. It is too deep for the 1st baseman and the Right fielder to catch the ball and when it lands, Martin is on his way to second but the Conner second baseman is johnny on the spot and picks up the ball and throw a strike to his SS to tag Martin sliding into second. Very nice heads up hustle play young man.

Grubers Grill star of the game: David Brueggman for his pitching, Neil Martin 2-3 and Cory Severson 2-2 for their hitting and fielding today along with Matt Klein for his SF to knock in the 1st run of the game.

Note: The CovCath vs Bishop Brossart game has been canceled at the request of Bishop Brossart due to the Mustangs playing in the All "A" Baseball Classic. Good luck Mustang from the CovCath faithful.

Sevvy's success has been a great surprise for the Colonels.

Glad to see David pitch so well. He had to sit out his sophomore year due to injury and then pitch JV as a junior. Good kid.

Note: Brueggman had 3 K's. 1st in ghe 2nd inning, 2nd in the 6th and 3rd in the 7th.

Agreed and his play in RF which is a tough place to play at CovCath due to the sun and wind conditions, has been outstanding also!

Today the young man had 4 put outs!

Strokes the ball very well. If he can hit the weights in the off season, I think he can develop into a very nice power hitter. He already hits those line shots, if he can add a little more pop he could end up being a very special player.

The name that seems to keep popping up for CCH is Lankheit. It seems like he is getting a lot of key hits for them lately.

He had the go ahead hit against Cooper in the 8th inning I believe. A good young man as well.

And as you know, I like seeing the young guys get the opportunity, and do well. Great job Jake!

See all that worrying you did in the first 10 games of the season was for no reason at all. :sssh:

Worrying may be a stronger word than is needed. I never lost any sleep or drank any beer (more) because of it is dang sure!!!!
