- he would've had the same result if Mercer County would've won a state championship

 

- Britt will be a candidate

If you read the comments related to this article it says that Brian Britt has already been named the head coach. Any truth?

 

I don't know right now but I will find out tomorrow morning.

I am still kind of taken aback by how many people are surprised by this move. I really wouldn't consider myself as a member of the program at Mercer. I have some good contacts there but I truly thought that most people knew he likely would not be retained as the coach. The Advocate Messenger had a story addressing the speculation shortly after Mercer's season was over. Cundiff said he'd be back. Yates said the basketball program will be evaluated soon and a decision would be made shortly. I thought the writing was on the wall. Judging from the comment section in the paper a lot of people are shocked and disagree with the decision.

 

Like I said earlier.....I am not the least bit surprised.

Mercer County is no longer looking. Brian Britt is the new head coach.
