Brossart-Beechwood 9th/10th Sectional Suspended In Top Of Tenth Inning

Featured Replies

Game suspended with Brossart leading 6-3 in top of tenth inning.

Brossart scored two runs to tie in the top of the 7th and then 3 in the top of the 10th when the game was suspended due to darkness.

Will pick up at some further date where it left off.

Two outs, in the top of the 10th, Mustangs on first and third, Trevor Bezold coming to bat.

Ian Hehman was torrid in relief for BBHS, Colin Johnston was doing a nice job for Beechwood. Bertke went 7 for Beechwood, Norton 5 2/3 for Brossart.

Since game was suspended for darkness, doesn't it revert back to last complete inning per KHSAA rules?

No, Mel Webster our AD checked with Stan Steidel who checked with Julien Tackett, who has ruled that a suspended game picks up at the point where it was stopped

Stan Steidel called Julian Tackett and reported that the game is to be completed from the "point of suspension."

If game was not to be finished then it would revert back, the way I understand it.

The Dixie Heights/ Ryle game was in the same situation and it reverted back to the last complete inning. I dont see why this game would be any different.

This game has to be completed because it is the sectional for the All A tournament. If it reverts back, the score is tied and there is no winner to send down to Applebee's for the All A. Thus the game must be resumed and since it is going to be resumed you pick it up at the point of suspension.

Cody Gohs appeared to be walking awkward in the fouth. Was he injured?

Not really sure. I saw that to maybe a pulled hamstring?

The same thing happened to Beechwood about three years ago when they were playing LCA for the All A sectional.

Tentative finish at Beechwood Tuesday at 4:30.

Brossart would then travel to Scott for the regularly scheduled 7pm game with the district opponent Eagles.
