AverageJoesGym Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Final from Wayne County. Ugly game. Somerset pitchers walked 17 batters and hit 5 others. Taylor Sears broke open a close game with 4 RBIs in the 7th inning on a solo homerun and a bases loaded double. The Briar Jumpers improve to 7-0 on the season.

Somerset threw a couple of kids that don't normally pitch varsity and they just couldn't throw strikes today. By the time they moved to some of their varsity pitchers Wayne County had started hitting the ball. 3 errors in the field by the Jumpers didn't help. The team leaves for Florida Saturday morning at 530am and I think maybe they were already thinking about that--it almost cost them today.

You gotta love high school baseball!! Somerset flat out, hit the cover off the ball (24 runs) all night. Wayne County only committed 3 errors for the game. The Jumpers hit for several doubles, triples and a HR to give the Cardinals their first loss of the season. Maybe not the best of wins...but hey, its a win. Great job guys. Good luck in Florida

Good luck in Florida :thumb: That's the main thing. On a day when the pitching struggled the offense picked them up. This could easily have been a loss if not for the offense. Good to see the offense really get rolling.
