I think that for most of the year the other players for South just waited around for St. John to make a play and when he played hard he was almost impossible to stop. But many of the times I saw him he did not play hard the whole game and seemed to get in foul trouble becuase he was not playing hard.

 

Gilbert and Watkins both really stepped up later in the season but shooting from the outside is a tough way to make a living and in the end that was what stopped the South run in the region.

 

North Laurel also played solid defense not giving South Laurel the open looks they have been good at in their wins.

Awesome Game! Congrats North Laurel and the seniors who haven't had a great year, record wise but came through when needed.

This isn't a shock to me NL is much more athletic that SL IMO they are playing well right now.

I really think that the longer court has really played well with North Laurel's strengths. They have taken advantage with a much improved transition game. It was a HUGE help in the Harlan Co game and helped them in the game with South as well.
