Villa is known as a strong defensive team and they really attack the basket with three players. NDA scores from all positions and have a very strong full court defense. This is probably the best possible draw for Villa but it will still be tough going for the Blue Lightning. I do expect it to be a close game and a low scoring one too.

Got to be other NDA and Villa opinions out there????

NDA comes in as the 4th best team in the draw but they're much closer to VMA than they are the #3 team in the draw.

NDA would obviously be the favorite but it wouldn't be a stunner to see this as a good game.

I like both teams and both schools. I have had very close ties to both over the years. Having said that, I just can't see NDA losing this one. IMO Villa need to start playing a stronger schedule to prepare for the post-season. It certainly has helped my Lady Raiders improve.

Good luck to both teams.

VMA to win in a slight upset! Should be a tight game.

I like Notre Dame in this one. I think Villa's lack of depth, combined with playing on a bigger floor will be a factor. I think Ammerman is the key for NDA. If she can shoot over the zone, Villa may have to come out of the zone sooner than desired. I look for NDA to make this full court game and wear them down. I see the Pandas pulling away in the 4th for an 8-10 point win.

You make some great points. Ammerman is definately the key to Notre Dame's success. Voskuhl is improving in every game.

I like the David vs Goliath angle to this game. VMA is a small program that has had a lot of recent success. Notre Dame is always good and this season they have played better than a lot of people expected (me included) after loosing all of last year's strong seniors.

Both programs are first class, it is hard to root against either of them.

I have watched Villa match up with NCC is past seasons all A and been very surprised. Villa can surpise you with their solid ball movement and unselfish dishes for easy buckets. Kruetzer is a really good big girl and Schroer can shoot or dirve with Case waiting for defense to collapse on the other two leaving her wide open which is a big mistake.

NDA makes every game a heart attack, whether it is a top level opponent or not so it is hard to predict what they will do. All of these close games should make them tougher and stronger. Voskul is the real deal and a good match up with Kruetzer. Ammerman can shoot lights out or drive the ball. NDA's swarming defense is a killer once the other team tires late in the game. Clark can drive past any defender and create opportunities.

I simply look for a tight game with any number of players to step up and sieze the moment. Good luck and I look forward to seeing my two favorite teams go at it. In the end the better team will emerge and although I expect that to be NDA I have learned to expect big things for the Villa group.

Villa has had talented teams in the past, but they never compete in the Districts and All A because they play a weak schedule. Their players are never use to the uptempo and quickness of the game that the bigger schools play at. They should play the bigger schools to improve in the regular season vs. padding their record against all the small schools north of Lexington.

Villa is a very small school. I suspect they will never win the Region and they schedule schools of similar size and make up. I really can not see it being practical for them to schedule the "bigger schools". I think they are perfectly fine doing what they do and this years team is for sure an exceptional bunch. Regardless of the outcome of this game the girls are already heros for making the Regional tournament. This team is made up of great athletes and exceptional students and everyone associated with them are proud of their accomplishments already.

No doubt they want to win but quite frankly they are already in a really cool place. It can get better but if it ends on Monday night they have accomplished a truely impressive goal. My opinion of course but I think many would agree.

I agree, they are certainly to be commended and praised for their accomplishments. My whole point is that if you have the talent then use it, don't hold them back. Playing a weaker schedule for the wins vs. pushing them to maximize their potential against better and more talented teams outside the conference is a disservice to the players. I think a 20-5 team (year end and year out) that plays a weak schedule but never makes the regions (until this year) is disappointing to the players when compared to the same team that might finish the regular season as a .500 team but makes the region because of the stiffer competition throughout the season. I guess it depends on what your goals are.

Villa averages 18 wins per season over the last ten years. They may have, and I am using an educated guess here, about 120 girls in the entire high school. NDA has that amount in one class. Scheduling schools 4 times their size out of district just doesn't make any sense to me. I like the program and the staff just the way it is.

NDA probably has 150 per grade on average.
