SK moves to 3-0 in the district after beating the BearCats. Jordan Ponzers made a three to give WV a 3-0 lead and that was the only time they led all game. The game teetered between 8-12 points with WV cutting the lead to five midway through the 4th quarter but SK quickly extended the lead back to double digits to seal the win. The Neers were led by Cody Chambers with 19 with Sorrell adding 16. Ponzer had a very good second half finished with 15.

From the little bit I saw in the first half, it seemed as if WV wasn't utilizing burns in the middle near enough. He had a size and strength advantage on SK overall- but not utilized near enough from what I could see. Overall poor offensive execution by Walton. Nice pre-game presentation by SK.

Size yes, but strength no. He is not even close to be the focal point of the offensive attack for WV.

I dont think he should be the offensive attack for WV, but if you never get the ball in to the middle, you're basically playing 4 on 5. Burns had his man pinned whenever I saw and was bigger and apparently stronger than the big man from SK. I'm not saying he should be the player always shooting the ball, but atleast utilize him to open the offense.

I agree it was a very nice pre game ceremony honoring the '95 regional champions. Jeff Krohman did a good job getting those guys back together, many I hadn't seen since '95. The framed jersey presented to the Brosky family added a nice touch.

It looked as if Burns possesses a nice right handed hook. I think he will need to become a bigger focal point on offense if WV hopes to advance in March.

Nick transferred from Holy Cross prior to his Jr season. His whole family attended SK, his brother Tony played for the '81 state champs, his sister Shannon was a very good hoops player in the late '90s and his other brother David was a very good wrestler for SK. He ended up being a starter for th '95 team and made the game winning layup, with 2 seconds remainig in the regional title game against CovCath. Nick passed away in '98 on the way back from the Gorge, he was a passenger in a car crash on I-64. Last night they had a projection screen on the floor and they played the last 9 seconds of that game, then they presented Nick's jersey to his family. It brought a tear to my eye, he was a very good young man. I have a friend who's brother graduated with Nick, and after his passing they planted a tree in their front yard. Hard to believe that tree is 11 years old, time really flies.

WV continued to jack up poor 3's. The few possessions they went inside to Burns....he scored or the defense contracted and a open shot was attempted. SK defense was more intense than WV. WV turned the ball over as a result. You can't give your opponent a boat load of more possessions in a game it will kill you.

This was what I was trying to bring to light... I think WV is a talented team, they just need to buckle down, be patient, and play good offense, and they will win a lot more games. Like so many Walton teams- they are trying to live and die by the three.
