I don't think playing at South mattered much. Corbin had a bigger crowd than South and the Redhounds were shooting bonus from the charity stripe early in both the first and second half.

With that said, it doesn't matter, Corbin is the better team until South can knock them off, but if you can't see just how close these teams are and how much upside these teams both have this season, then you're blind.

Both Pietrowski and Wright do a great job of coaching and I expect whenever these teams meet, the games will be close throughout the rest of the season.:thumb:

 

If I'm blind then I must not have seen the 18 point lead Corbin jumped out to...If Corbin would have closed the door in the 3rd quarter this game would have been ugly....and the only game I see being close is the region championship if both teams make it.

High School basketball games are scheduled for 32 minutes of regulation time, not 19 minutes. That's why they play four quarters. That's why coaches make adjustments, which South Laurel did. IF, IF, IF - If St. John touched the ball more South would have won, IF Karr hits two last second shots South would have won ... If South would have hit half of their free throw shots they would have won ... It's fun to play the IF game, but it means NOTHING. Corbin is the better team, and as one great coach told me, and he's won plenty of region titles and a state title, and is retired, Region championships are not won in December. :thumb:

This is two good teams and I wouldn't bet my lunch money either way the next time they play. I would hate to go hungry. Roscoe against the Redhound braintrust is always a good matchup. The Hounds may not see that man again until the regional final.

Here's how I saw the game...

 

Corbin played well in the 2nd qtr.

South played well in the 3rd qtr.

Both teams were average in the 1st and 4th.

 

One point I haven't heard mentioned is that both teams are very good at taking away what the other team likes to do. 9 out of 10 ten times when these teams play it'll be a nailbiter for that reason (assuming talent levels are similar).

 

With this in mind, I think you can expect that the next two or three times they meet will probably be a game of evenly matched runs and who plays the best in the final two minutes of play.

I'm not sure. Those South teams in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were some of the most talented in this area in the while, so they might have dropped off a few, but I believe Corbin has remained solid.

 

Don't get me wrong, both teams are talented now and should dook it out for the region crown .... unless Knox or Clay puts up a fight.

After watching Knox and Clay both, I don't think either team has enough talent to beat Corbin or South...but March is a long way off and crazy things can happen.
