December 15, 200916 yr Microsoft extended any warranty for an additional 3 years last year. So it doesn't matter when you purchased your xbox as of last year everyone was given a 3 year warranty.

December 18, 200916 yr My friends just swap out each others boxes if their warranty runs out. One has an extra shell so they jusy store their hard drive in it until their system comes back. Have any of you noticed that you don't actually get the same console back? My friends had stickers on his first one, got a different one back without the stickers and a deeper shade of black (his had started to fade a little)...red ring of death comes 2 weeks later and he wanted to test things out again and put an Apple sticker on the top of console #2....console #3 comes back in without the Apple sticker and with the plastic covering on the front (console #2 didn't have that).

Oh he did check them after noticing the changes in looks...I'm just surprised he kept his cool with the folks on the phone...had to talk to some Indian folks for over 90 minutes EACH time for some reason.

Took me about 15 minutes. And when I called I originally thought mine wasn't under warranty, but they told me that it was.
