Clark County defeats a scrappy Male team in a game that was closer than many thought. Meeting Randall Cobb was a bonus to a Great Day of HOOPS in the Bluegrass!

Kindred took a very hard fall in the first 10 seconds of the game and didn't return, He left at half time. Reported he had a concussion.

 

Best game I have seen Zollo play for GRC. He was everywhere. He owned the boards tonight. Stenzel also had a good game. Loved the way he slashed to the basket against the very talented and athletic Male team. Charlie Rogers came off the bench and played a good game.

Great win for the Cards against a very athletic Male team with good guards. Male hit a 3 at the buzzer to cut the 12 point lead to 9. GRC is now 5-0. Very proud of them.....this team is going to be something special.:thumb:

I am really really disappointed with the play of Purvis tonight. He will not get looks from the likes of Kentucky with games like this.

It seems this team came out of the gates like gang busters and now have to find a rhythm to beat the good teams they will face as they go towards March. The good part of this is when one or two of them have bad games the rest can cover for them and still pull out the win!

20 points and 18 rebounds is very impressive. Sounds like Zollo was a man among boys tonight for the Cards.

Clark (5-0) placed three players in double figures all by the junior trio of Robbie Stenzel, Vinny Zollo and Jaylen Daniel. Stenzel took game-high scoring honors with 23 points, scoring 10 of those in the first quarter, including back-to-back three-pointers and another bucket in a two-minute span. Humphrey liked Stenzel’s effort on both ends of the floor.I thought he was good on the offensive end, but I loved his effort on the defensive end,” Humphrey said. “We have to have that. To reach our goals, Robbie has to buy in on the defensive end. Tonight was a great step in the right direction.”

 

 

Zollo followed Stenzel with a double-double, scoring 20 points to go along with 18 rebounds. Zollo scored eight points in the fourth frame, with six of those coming from the charity stripe. Zollo added eight blocks and four assists.

Daniel scored eight points in the second half, including a dunk and finished with 14 points.

I like Purvis, but that kid isn't gonna get looks from Ky not matter how he played last night. He's a good player, but not KY good. Morehead, EKU, if he keeps getting better and the knee gets stronger.

Purvis already has an offer from Morehead unless I'm mistaken... And I wouldn't consider this loss bad for Male. GRC is a top 3 team in state.

I will run it by coach Moore. And Male's loss is not that bad, but isn't the point. The point is, they are losing so many of them this early. Bulldog basketball is not what she used to be.
