Fastbreak is absolutely correct in his posts nuimbered 109 and 110. I am very familiar with the situation at the private school supported by Fastbreak. That school cannot open its gymnasuium doors without being scrutinized by KHSAA. Other privates may not face this problem. But, then, other privates don't have a local public reporting every move they make as does Fastbreak's school.

Fastbreak's quote in post 111 states well the status his school has reached as well as that reached by many other privates. As long as the publics can ignore and laugh at (which they certainly do) the local privates, everything is fine and the publics don't concern themselves with technicalities. However, as soon as there is an even fight or the private starts to win the overall competition, the publics become defensive and begin to whine to their "big sister" over on Executive Drive in Lexington.

Finally, I am amazed at the posts of those who complain because they see the privates as having more money than do the publics. Do they discount the endless stream of money flooding into the public coffers (and often wasted) from the tax dollars furnished by all segments of society- including the private families and the home school families? Obviously, private parents are more supportive of their schools than are public parents. If they weren't, there would be no private schools. If you want that "eyes of the beholder" concept of "level playing field" why not try tax vouchers. This would force each of the publics to offer quality, discipline, and order or to disappear. Sounds fair to me but, then, that is why it will never be adopted.
