Greenwood 31 Henderson County 7

Featured Replies

Some further info on Henderson's punting:

Punts - 6

Gross Yards Per Punt - 26.33

Net Yards Per Punt - 23

They had two bad punts, one of 13, and one of 19 yards. The 13 yarder was when they were trying to angle it out of bounds inside the 20 and he didn't do that well. They were punting from the Greenwood 40. The 19 yarder was worse, kicking from the Hendo 32 and only getting to the Greenwood 49. Either one of those punts in the later situation would have still resulted in Greenwood starting on their side of the field and not giving them the psychological boost of a key 4th down stop. If you take the average net punt, Greenwood would have taken over on their own 39 yard line.

It was the wrong call, plain and simple.

The punts:

HC 43-GW 28 Return to GW 36

HC 48-GW 10 Return to GW 15

GW 40-GW 27 No return

HC 32-GW 49 No Return

HC 38-GW 32 Return to GW 42

------------------------------

HC 3-HC 31 No Return

29 - 8

42 - 5

13 - 0

19 - 0

30 - 10

28 - 0

26.33 Gross yards

23 Yards Net

You're punting stats my be right, but the 1 yard is way off. The Qb didn't get a positive push at all, and the measure of the ball came up 3-4 inches short. Not to mention on 3rd down from the same situation, the QB dropped the ball the play before and the o-line had a tremendous push...did it end up being a big play in the game, of course...

It was 3rd and a legit 1, and he lost yardage when he fumbled the ball. How do you figure it was only 4th and a foot?

Now, if you're talking about following their final play, yes, he was 3-4 inches short AFTER 4th down. But we're talking about the decision BEFORE 4th down. And it was a long one yard to gain. He probably gained a yard on the play, but he needed 1.3 yards.
