Vote on The Arena will happen before January, 2010

That might work, but who breaks the tie votes? In this scenario, the arena would more than likely host it at least 3 out of every 4 years.

Great point. So when you leave Harlan, if you don't wanna buy food in Corbin, then stop at Bell County or Knox County and eat.

I can understand the argument on both sides. Being a native Harlan Countian, I too am proud of the new facilities. I may not be thrilled with the consolidation but that is another post in itself. HCHS has some of the nicest facilities in all of Kentucky. I also graduated from Corbin and lived a large part of my life there.

With all of this said, I think having the game at The Arena is a no brainer. Corbin High School doesn't benefit from this in the least bit unless you consider travel time. The Arena gives each team a chance to play in a larger facility that they would not normally get to play in. It would also benefit the teams by preparing them for their potential trip to Rupp. It sounds simple but the depth perception when shooting at Rupp is a lot different than shooting into a basket with a wall 5-10 feet behind it.

The benefit to the fans is another thing. Corbin is an easily accessible city and all the roads are very good. If I was a parent, allowing a kid to travel to the tournament, I'd much rather them travel 25E, the Parkway, or I-75 than I would sending them up 119 or to Clay and Jackson Counties. The seating is supurb and comfortable. Also, it will be an air conditioned place, unlike most gyms that time of year. Finally, it will seat enough people that it cuts out having to do the split sessions. Who in their right mind wants to stand for 1, 2, or 3 hours outside in winter weather to wait on a 2 hour ball game (most of which are obvious on who will win?)

Finally, yes the city of Corbin may benefit from the food sales but that is good for the whole area. You cannot build up 10 cities at once. If you build up one city, it allows expanded growth.

So, it's OK for us to travel to the road to get to Corbin, but it's too dangerous for the Corbin folks going in the other direction?

Why don't we just build up Harlan instead and let Corbin benefit from the expanded growth?

You keep forgetting that this issue isnt a Corbin thing...this is a Region thing and what is more beneficial for the entire Region, not just Harlan or Corbin. Its all about making things more fan friendly.

Does Harlan County's gym have wifi, so media can actually send pics and stories from location?

Because hosting it at The Arena is the better option.

One of us will have to ask Bob Howard that one.

We just drive back to the office.

If I lived in Corbin, I'd agree with you.

We've already agreed on three in Corbin and one in Harlan County. That should have decided it.

You can't do that when you're two hours away and meeting a deadline ... but The Arena has wifi ...:p

I haven't forgotten anything. I remember all kinds of useless information. Ask Les.

This is mainly Corbin people fighting to have it in Corbin every year and Harlan County people wanting it in Harlan County once every seven or eight or 12 years.

I believe Harlan County's gym would be fan friendly. I may be wrong. Harlan County should get at least one chance to determine that.

I agree...IMO I would have it at the Arena 3 years then Harlan Co. one then back to the Arena.

It's a Corbin thing to me. Home floor or not, it means every regional game is a home game for Corbin. No Thanks.

Thanks. I'm here every night until 1.

Will any 13th region teams play in the Arena before the Regional Tournament? If not it will be a neutral site. If any 13th region teams do play in the Arena will all 13th region teams be afforded the same opportunity?
