CovCath Basketball Practice 10-30

Featured Replies

I had the honor and privilege to attend the CovCath Basketball practice (Friday 10-30) at the invitation of Coach L!

As I walked into the gym around twenty/twenty five minutes early, I saw Mattie Klein on the floor shooting and I started to tear up with happiness.

To see this young man now the picture of good health after seeing him so very, very sick and seeing him this spring working so hard to play baseball, well..... Theoldguy had tears of happiness in my eyes.

We talked a bit and he told me he felt great and he was all caught up with his school work and everything was going great. I can't tell you how happy I am for him and his family.

Another young man who was there early was Welbrock and again I told him how proud I was of him for being the yell leader at the football and soccer games and told him he needed to bring that leadership to the basketball floor.

I won't go into details about practice, but Ninth Region teams, don't even think this will be last years CovCath team!

The Colonels will be back and after what some of them went through last year, you won't have a chance against them. Maybe just maybe some teams will beat them on the basketball floor but in the game of life against the likes of Klein and Pauley you don't have a chance, as they have already won the game that you have no idea how to play!

This is a bold statement considering you have NO IDEA what other kids throughout the region has had to face in life. I am sure not all Colonel fans support you on this one!

Bold? No, not at all, at least on Mattie's part. To see how this kid fought, to see how far he has come back, to see how hard he has worked, to see how much it hurt him, to see how much his family cared, to see how much his family prayed, to see how much the community cared for him, to see what his sister did for him,

I am sure their could be others but they won't beat him, not in a million billion years, no way no chance!

How did CovCath look on the floor?

They will compete and win more than they lose this year and they will surprise a lot of people.

First game is Tuesday Dec 1st against LexCath at CovCath. It will be a triple header with the Frosh tipping it off at 4:30pm.

For now, that's all you get!

Aw, come on OG!!!! My understanding is there are still a number of guys, some potential starters who are still with the fall sport teams - both Soccer and Football. So, has Coach L made any cuts yet? I had also heard he may cut a few end of last week.

Why put down kids from other schools rather than leaving it at the positive stuff with these kids from Cov Cath?

I do not think putting other kids down was what OG meant. At least I did not take it that way. I am sure there are other kids who have gone through simliar obstacles in life, but there probably is not too many. Maybe the choice of words did not communicate it as clearly as possible, but I am sure that OG was in no way trying to out down other kids.

Don't sweat the small stuff. TOG is a Cov Cath homer and no one works harder, has had to over come more, has had a better education, etc.. than those that go to Cov Cath. Every team at Cov cath is the best as well, at least until the games are played!

I hope they are working hard because they aren't in anybodys top 5 this season. Nice info on the Klein boy though.

Wow even the Cooper guys hate Cov Cath. Glad to see that. Didn't take you long to join the Highlands guys! :D

Anyway, hopefully Cooper guys are working hard as well, I mean heck, even the Colonels beat up on your jags pretty good last year if I remember correctly.........:D

Don't group FNF with all Cooper "guys". I'm sure TOG means well. By the way, I would hope your Cov Cath boys would "beat up" on a first year school and don't get me started on public versus private debate. :D

Sorry - I assumed since his posts all seem to be in support of the Jags, he was one. I only made the comment I did cause he bashed Cov Cath a little bit more than I thought was appropriate. Not sure why you would throw the bolded part in to your post. I never mentioned or even wanted to imply anything on that one.
